Does anyone know what the availability usually is for the cottages in May? Should we start trying to book on the first day possible, 7 months in advance?

There are only 5 of them at Vero Beach and I find they are taken long before the 7 month window..You might consider a couple of two bedrooms villas instead. Good luck.

Darn, that's what I figured.
Thanks for the suggestion.

We were really looking forward to the ocean front. There's only 5 of us, so we really don't need the third bed room. Just wanted to spoil ourselves for the week.

We were able to book one for September at the seven month window, and I was told that there was "plenty of availability" for them.

There are only three of us--SIL canceled at the last minute--so we'll be rattling around in there!

Glad to hear we aren't the only ones! After I posted that I thought I would get some hate mail. We thought, if we go to all the trouble of getting there, might as well get an ocean view.

So, there is hope of getting a cottage, woohoo!

Anne, when do you want us to arrive? ;)

Don't totally give up hope. A few years ago we wanted to add a few days at Vero on to the front of our WDW vacation. I had waitlisted for a 1 bedroom. As we got closer I started calling every day. At one point the CM said "Nope, no one bedrooms at all - but there is a Beach Cottage available." Unfortunately we didn't have the points to burn that year, so we didn't take it. But this was maybe less than 2 months out, for the last week of May. So, while it is improbable, it's not impossible! Good Luck.

This is great news. I won't count on a cottage, but will hope for the best.
We are going to Star Wars Weekends, but didn't want to stay past Sunday due to the crowds and weather. It's hard for me to buy airline tickets knowing we'll only be there a couple of nights, so we figured a few days at VB would be fun. DS will be 13 months and just itchen' to get in the sand.

My parents just bought into the DVC and were offered triple points for the first year. So... we can blow them on a cottage! :o)

Back in Feb DH and I invited them to SSR for their first week at WDW. Now, they are hooked.

We will be trying for a 2 BDR and a studio for the end of June....should I have any issues? We want to end our SSR trip here to relax...I would love the Cottage...but....with only six...

You should be fine booking at 7 months.
