VERO BEACH 2016 Information & Adoration Thread

Refillable mug question... we are staying two days at the Polynesian then head to DVB. If I buy refillable mugs at the Poly does it transfer on to DVB? I won't buy mugs at the Poly if they don't transfer. Does anyone know the answer?

And does anyone know (considering the renovations) if there is a refill station in the pool area?
Just returned home today from our 1 week stay at VERO.
*Yes, the ONLY refill station is in the pool area.
*Yes, the mugs will transfer over....in fact, the refill station was not working with the chip feature the whole time we were there and even though we purchased our mugs at VERO, many other people were filling any sort of cup while there, as there were no "Mug Police" around

We were on the DDP at the Poly and we brought our receipt and refillable mugs and mentioned it at the front desk at Vero, was there week before Memorial Day weekend. Front Desk had my DH bring the mugs and receipt to the gift shop and they Reactivated them, used them at Vero with no problem. When we were there, was a refillable drink station by pool. Enjoy Vero and Poly, both great resorts!:thumbsup2:goodvibes

Great to know, I'll keep my receipt just in case. Thanks so much!!

We checked in today. We are in an refurbished inn room and it's beautiful. I love the new decor. The only thing I wish is for there to be some shelving over the sink. Seems like wasted space. But, other than that, the colors and finishes are really pretty and peaceful. Just love it here!

Anyone else read about the algae issues and beach closures? Do we need to worry about the beach being closed? Our trip isn't until the end of July/early August.

I posted the same question page 21 on Friday when I heard it initially on the news. Since then it has been over the news but Vero is about 35 miles away or so. Maybe someone staying at Vero can post. TIA!:goodvibes

Looking to add a few days at Vero after our AKV stay next June. What is availability like 7 months out for the month of June?

The algae is south of here down by Martin County. We haven't had any problems on the beaches here, that I've seen.
Great for Vero, but I hope that the situation resolves over the next couple of weeks for other areas!:wizard: Thanks for posting.:goodvibes

Undoubtedly, summer months are in demand. With that being said, exactly at 7 months we booked successfully a 1 br, the week before/of Memorial Day weekend this year and also six years ago booked 2br for mid August exactly at 7 months :thumbsup2. Just be prepared to book exactly at 7 months and have an alternative in mind. Wait list exactly at 7 months if you are unsuccessful. Enjoy, always find it a great wind down from the parks.:cool1:

I'll definitely be trying to book right at 5am PST! Hahahaha I was up on my bday this week at 4:45, right at my 11 month window, to book AKV Club Level. I was hoping for a 2 bdrm but had to settle with a 1 bdrm. Will need a 1 bdrm at Vero as well. Glad to hear you've had luck around busy holidays!

We're due to arrive in about a month and happy to hear it hasn't reached VB. The algae looks awful on CNN and i hope the State of FL gets it contained soon.

Stopping in to say hell from VB. This is our 4th visit, last time was 3 years ago. And every time we stay I say - we need to come down more often.

Random comments. ..

Decided this trip (4 nights WDW before couple nights at VB) about 6 weeks out - was able to get a 1br for the 4th, but not for the 5th - so booked an inn room. I WL'd and stalked the site up to the morning of the 5th - never was available. Got some pixie dust checking in - and was able to get a 1br for the 5th too, and we didn't have to move.

Or 1br still had A DVD player in it. Though I didn't appreciate whoever unplugged the players power and connection to the tv. The cable was also disconnected from the tv.

I cooked for the first time, after a lot of DVC trips with a full kitchen available. It wasn't much - bacon and eggs for breakfast. But stopping by Publix on the way down made it super easy.

The weather was good (but HOT) our 2 days here. Lightning the afternoon of the 4th closed the pool for a lot of the afternoon (it never rained), but we were in the ocean then. Today (5th) was awesome.

Seemed pretty busy on the 4th, not as much on the 5th.

Watermelon eating contest on the 4th was a fun pool thing.

Had pizza from orchid island (walked to pick up) one night, squid lips the 2nd night.

Free cookies and lemonade in the afternoon in the lobby hit the spot.

Did the smores/fire thing Monday night instead of hunting for fireworks in the area. Decision made easier since we saw the 4th fireworks at MK the night before. I had 6 marshmallows and two smores. There was plenty for seconds/thirds/fourths.

Ocean was WARM - 85 posted on the 4th. Surf was pretty low - only 1-2'. We're used to (and washopingfor) much larger surf on the Atlantic.

That's all for now - I should start getting things together. We have a7:10 flight out of Sandford in the morning - which means a 4:00 am departure (yuck ).

Snurk71, thanks for posting!:goodvibes Sounds like you had a Great trip! Wow, warm water temperatures! Vero is always so nice to relax after the parks!:thumbsup2

We are at VBR now and there are no algae issues. Hopefully that continues.

image.jpegAt Vero now. New rooms look great. Wish I could say the same about BCV.
