re-posting a brief dining review from the last thread:
Hey there Everyone.
My family and I just returned from our 2 night stay at Vero and I promised some brief dining reviews of the places we ate. After staying there for a night last year and having a terrible meal on property, this year we vowed to branch out and see what else was available.
The first night we ate at the Ocean Grill in Vero Beach:http://ocean-grill.com/
This place looks and feels like one of those ramshackle places you find up and down the east coast. The coolest thing about it though is that it is quite literally right on the beach. The bar is small, but provides a great view of the surf. Its signature cocktail is the Painkiller (oh and it does, it does) behold:

The food, however, is less than stellar. It is a menu that you would see at places 50 years ago including crackers on the table in lieu of a breadbasket and all manner of fried fish and shellfish. It was packed, so I think I am in the minority on my lukewarm response to the place, but it is definitely worth going to for the bar alone.
The next night we went to Scampi Grill in Vero: http://www.scampigrill.net/
The place is tiny and has a lovely outdoor porch to eat in if the inside is too busy. It is rather loud out there as it is on a main drag at a busy intersection. What we loved about this place was the traditional Italian American food and the attentive service. We all shared the bruschetta to start, which was lovely and then all had pasta dishes. We were stuffed to the gills at the end of the meal.
Anyway, hope you all get a chance to check these places out on your next trip!

We just checked out tripadvisor/opentable/yelp when we were there christmas week. Surprisingly the big hit was the orchid island pizza that we had delivered to the resort.
We ate dinner at the patio or the seafood terrace patio as open table called it. The baked brie was amazing. We were 9 people and everyone walked out happy which is hard to do with the group I was with.
We also ate at Shutters ( no one liked the burgers) the day we didn't feel like going out.
