Our road trip began, Friday April 16th. I had packed the Envoy the night before. Yeah, it barely fit! We purchased one of those Coleman plug in cooler fridge things. For drinks, and my milk for coffee in the morning. The girls had their DVD players and coloring books, crayons, reading books, a backpack full. All stuff theyd never seen before! He head out at 330am on Friday. 1st stop Dunkin Donuts 2 minutes from the house! Had to fill up the rig, and fill up my caffeine pot. The girls- of course were wide awake. So much for them falling back asleep on the way! We hit the highway and make record time. At the 1st rest area in Jersey on 95 by 8:30AM! yes- less than 5 hours- my friends, and we were in Jersey! We stopped there to get out and stretch, get a snack, and put the DVD players on for DDs We made great time, and arrived in Rocky Mount, NC by 4pm. We found our hotel, and brought in the cooler to plug in and the travel bag I had packed with the clothes for this part of the trip. The kids of course- were not in any mood to just rest, like DH and I so, we found a mall just down the road, and off we went. Picked up a few things at Old Navy, baseball caps for the kids etc. and then found a nice restaurant for dinner. To my surprise by 8pm we were all back in the hotel sound asleep!
Woke up and headed for Brunswick, GA. We planned to stop at South of the Boarder. Well, I know its a dump but eh weve got kids and they LOVE the place. A few gentle reminders to DH about that date with the VT State Trooper the LAST time he brought home fireworks from SOB and he decided to leave without any. Good move Dear! Back on the road, and again, in Brunswick by 4pm. This hotel had an indoor pool, so we took the kids down there to blow of some steam. Now, to my kids- this was almost as good as Disney, as generally I wont let them swim in an indoor pool at a hotel. (for more information, PM me) so they were very excited. Ordered some pizza to be delivered to the room- and of course, nobody was in bed by 10. We were all very excited about tomorrow- for that would bring WDW!
I knew about the outlets in St. Augustine from The Dis. I knew about the autograph books and fat pens, and I knew wed be stopping there. What I didnt know was how long it was going to take to get there from Brunswick! We were 2 exits from where we had to be when traffic STOPPED yes- STOPPED. I put the envoy in Park. We sat there for what seemed like forever. We were far enough back from whatever happened that by the time we got there, well, it was all cleaned up. Never did find out what it was! But alas, we made it to the outlet. WHOOHOO
I think we were in there for about an hour! I told DH- lets let them get some stuff here, its way cheaper than the park, trust me Im a disser I know this so we did, and they did. Autograph books- check, fat pen-check. T-shirts- check. Sweatshirts-check (yeah, its April and hot here, but who knows it could be cold) Stuffed animals- check. My first Mickey antenna topper- check.
Next stop- WDW well- okay- not really. We had to stop and get some stuff at the grocery store. Bacardi Raspberries for me, and cereal for the kids breakfast. Okay- now next stop WDW
