Verizon Wireless question....

We will be going to Canada this summer. Does anybody know about Verizon's prepaid cell phone and how it works? I tried asking customer service if there's a temporary Canada plan and was told no. We will be gone for 10 days and will need to use the phone in case we need to reach each other if separated or call our family members. Also, does anybody know if texting is a different rate out there also? Thanks!

We drove to Canada for the day last August from Montana. When we were about the cross the border into Canada, my son got a text message from Verizon telling him that different rates would apply in Canada. We were only there a few hours, but the one or two text messages my son sent were more expensive. Usually they don't cost us anything.

DH went to Toronto and it would have been roaming. I called before he left added a Canada plan for like 9.99 then canceled a week later definitely worth it. He could call no texting but could email ds with no added charge.

Do you have the phone number?i tried calling and got different answers. That sounds like a great plan.
