Hi All,

My husband is an almost 13yr employee of Verizon up here in MA. The word he is getting from the union is that talks have stopped completely. Word is it might be long.

Anyone else out there work for or have family/friends that work for Verizon? What have you been hearing?

Does that mean Snoopy will be doing her pole climbing soon?? Hope things go well for your hubby, you, Tiffany, and anyone else who might be affected by a strike.

Dan

I hope they can get it worked out. Strikes are always so hard on the families. I hope the Union guys get what fair to them.

Yup, start pole climbing this coming Sunday. :(

I'm trying like heck to get out of it, and may have an in with an office job, but I can say for sure I'm not looking forward to a strike, especially if that means I have to be away from my family for any length of time. :(

I live in Mass as well and DH works for power company and told me the same thing-----talks have stalled and it looks like a strike is imminent.....sigh so sorry for you.

Faith, trust, and pixie dust to you all.

My Verizon Yellow Page rep told me to get my ads in before this coming Friday as he thinks they will strike and he wanted all his stuff in before anything happened.

Can I ask something? I don't know much about this strike, but how are people going to be affected service wise? I'm not trying to start a debate, I just haven't heard much about it.

I don't know much about it. I was at a candle party on Thursday and one of the guests works for Verizon and was talking about it. I hope it can all get settled before a strike happens.

I know how hard stikes can affect people. I just want to wish everyone who is affected good luck, best wishes, Pixie dust prayers and anything else I can send.

Uhhh, Olga, unless you want me climbing up your pole, you might want to get all your phones fixed pronto. :teeth:
Judi, I will do without a phone , I won't make you climb on that phone pole. A few weeks back our phone service was down for two days because of some idiot driving under the phone lines with a high truck in our development roads, for me it was actually nice to not hear the phone ring ( then again I still had my cells ) but I admit for other people it was scary, elderly people that depend on phones for communication were not too happy.
Now if this was my cable company.....that would be different, don't mess around with my internet!
I hope the strike can be stopped though. Best of luck to all involved.

My daughter is also a Verizon employee - now a single mom who just bought her first home last year. The strike will impact her quite hard, even if it lasts one day. In this economy, i do not understand how a strike can even take place.
I also hope for an agreement to take place before the deadline!

I have several friends that work for Verizon and they've been told to expect the strike to be long :(

Good luck and good thoughts to all of you strikers and management having to fill in for the union. I know I'm cringing at the thought of the chronics group being gone and my customers being left in the lurch. I can only imagine how rough it's going to be on you guys.

I can sympathize here. Pajammatam's DH is facing this strike on Sunday.

My family is currently going through a small budget reduction- nothing like a strike. Im on wk 6 of having my hrs reduced at work. I knew months ahead (just like Verizon people) so I spent months saving/preparing/redoing our budget. Remortgaging our house so we could pay off some larger bills. There are things we had to do w/out this summer. We should have our hours back after Labor Day but nothing is in writing.

Good luck to all -hope if they do strike that its over quickly. Reduction in pay is a difficult/stressful thing to live through.

(If we loose our phone line Im cut off from the internet!)
