I have Verizon service on my cell phone. Will I get good coverage while in the parks? I would like to avoid walkie talkies because there is always so much interference.

I've had Verizon for several years and have used it in the parks often with no trouble. It sure makes it easy to keep up with DD25 and her DBF. For some reason they don't always want to hang out with Mom! :confused3

Worked fine in August. Sometimes glitchy indoors, but for the most part it was great.

Worked great for us on all our trips. :thumbsup2

We only had trouble in MK when indoors and our phones at the time were crappy. You should have no problems.

We have Verizon & whenever we travel we update our roaming device once we arrive. In NJ I hit *228 and then follow the prompts. This will give you better service. If that # doesn't work (I'm not sure if that # is for NJ only :confused3 ) then go to your verizon store, tell them you are traveling and what # do you use to update roaming.

I guess it depends on the plan you have or where you live (we're in MA), but I've never had to do this. We have what Verizon calls "National IN Calling" and I think that means that we don't roam. Verizon worked great for us in the World. It's only at home that I have to go outside to make a long distance call, and even then it doesn't always work. :rotfl:

I have Verizon and have no problems at all.

But it is reccommended that you update your phone by doing the #228 thing occassionally, even in your home area if they have added or updated towers it will then find those.

We were there is Nov 2005 and had to problems with coverage in and around the parks and resorts. Though this time I am thinking of leaving it at home.

I didn't have any problems with Verizon service during our last two trips. In fact my cell phone worked inside several of the rides. I love calling everyone back saying "sorry I couldn't answer I was in POTC." Then I get the response, yure in Disney again?

Yes I am, leave me the heck alone.

We have Verizon and my DS (see below) will call me on his days off from the parks and we've had no problem with the service. So far he's called me from the monorail, MK, the Studios, DTD and Epcot.

Verizon's *228 does update your phone with the latest towers and you should be doing it once a month or so.

Just back and the cells worked fine. Even in some rides they worked OK.

The only place we had trouble was inside The Land which seemed to be a veritable cellular bermuda triange, though I must admit, we have never done *228 - I guess we are pretty clueless! We will try that in the future! :thumbsup2
