Anybody know if the packages are similar in price and quality? Comcast is pushing hard to get us to go to their premier plan. That includes a whole lot more channels than we currently get, increased web bandwidth, and telephone service.

FIOS does all that too, but isn't in my neighborhood yet. In fact, someone from Verizon called me today to ask me to upgrade to DSL - I don't need it as as I have Comcast. I asked them about when we would be getting FIOS. He didn't know. I do know that the town next to me has it.

I want to wait and see what FIOS offers, but Comcast is looking like a winner vs. what we pay now for TV, phone, internet.... and they will guarantee no price increases for 2 years.

I was thinking that I was going to wait for FIOS, but after that call from Verizon today, I am thinking it will be a long time from now before we get offered it.

Any thoughts?

I personally would wait for FIOS. It will beat any Comcast connection by a mile.

I currently have FIOS. They offer FIOS (broadband), phone and Cable. We do not have Cable here yet though (though Verizon).

I have had Fios for over two months now and LOVE it! The connection speed is great and the channel lineup is a bit better.

I wouldn't wait for FIOS. FIOS is here in Burlington, yet they won't service me. Unless you're lucky enough to live close to the center of town, or in an affluent neighborhood, you could end up finding out that you've been waiting for FIOS for nothing -- that they won't service you even when they do arrive in town.

We've had FIOS since last July, love it!!!:woohoo:
We got rid of verizon, for our phone, too. :thumbsup2

4/10 and can't wait, 2 weeks..........aaaah FL Sun!:goodvibes

Confused... Verizon provides the FIOS, right? It does in this area, anyway.

We moved in October and the only thing that I really hated was having to give up my FIOS. I still miss it, but I love my house and my neighborhood and I hope that in the future FIOS appears out in the boonies. If it does I will be the first person on the waiting list to get it installed.

I kinow nothing about comcast (and I've heard that's a good thing)

I have fios, for internet,,,,,,,,,,,,,but I did get rid of verizon for home phone (hate their over rated service/expense) you can go with any other phone/internet company.
We have Sunrocket! A friend told me about them, prepaid for 2 years 199.00 I can call anywhere in the USA for like 8.90 including taxes a month, and I have all the call features of verizon................!

Sorry for the confusion!!!:wizard:

Yes, I love FIOS!

We have FIOS for internet and phone, but not for TV, and we love it! Connection speed is great, and we were able to keep our old MSN e-mail addresses.

We wanted them for them for everything, but when the FIOS guy came out to install the TV jacks, he was going to drag the cable from room to room (and upstairs :scared1: ) and just staple the wiring to the baseboards, leaving it exposed. We said no thanks, and called Cox. They were out the next day, fished the walls, installed the jacks and all for less than Verizon was going to charge for leaving cables out all over my house.

I would like to move to Cox for everything, but I love FIOS, so I'm hesitating to make the change.

We were a testing ground (literally) for FIOS (Fiber Optic) here in our neighborhood. Had Verizon employees swarming about and were the first to have it NW of the city of Phila. well over 1 1/2 yrs. LOVE the speed, rarely a problem getting on or being kicked off, however still having problem with mobile servie for our laptop. I've got to get on that, just haven't called back lately. I dont have their phone yet and not sure about TV yet in our area. We have been getting lots of Comcast stuff mailing and friends are not happy so I have no reason to switcdh. HOWEVER the FIOS price is high ($50+ mnthly) opposed to their own "broadband" or Comcasts'.But the reliabilty is nice and our phone service is MUCH better too! Lots of problems with overloaded circuits and static in this area - not a problem for us any longer!!! So we LOVE it!!!

I've had FIOS for a while now, and got TV installed last fall (that took some doing, but I'm a business user, end result is I have two fiber runs to my house), the throughput is excellent. I've yet to have a problem with it. I am a business user, so I have static IP's, other than that the service is basically the same. Since Verizon bought MCI (former uunet), they have a pretty good Tier 1 backbone, so that is a plus.

The TV is awesome, no problems there either.
