After having a Comcast salesman come to my door with a very attractive offer my husband called to see what Verizon would do to keep us. Well they pretty much matched Comcast's offer and will save us 37 dollars a month off the bill plus HBO and Cinemax for a year. He just told them we didn't want to switch but he would for that much a month. They did have to transfer him to a disconnect agent to negotiate because the regular agent said she could only do so much and suggested that he try the disconnect agent. That's over $400 a year.

Woo-Hoo :thumbsup2

I do the same thing with Time Warner every......single..... year......

Yep that's right, you can call back to do the same thing.....every single year.

It gets old - I've done it three times, and it goes the same way every time.

The banter goes back and fourth, I ask to be transferred to disconnect - and I end up talking to a retention agent who apologizes for the mess - and quickly matches nearly whatever offer I have from another company.

In reality I do NOT want to switch, my only other option would include DSL and Dish Network (which is horrible in our area for weather related outages).

So we'll stick with Time Warner until something better comes along!

good for you op. we don't have verizon... yet. :((

how do i negotiate with comcast? advice needed!!! rofl:rotfl2:

I usually just call and ask if they have any better offers or if they can match offer X that I saw advertised. Last time, the guy told me to mark my calendar to remind me to call back in 6 months.

Did the same thing yesterday with Comcast. Cable/Internet bill was just way too much. I found I could switch to AT&T and get the same service for over $100 less per month. When I called to cancel Comcast pretty much matched the deal for 12 months and I was actually given a faster Internet plan. She switched me over right away and I received a partial refund for the rest of this billing cycle. She also told me to call back next December to negotiate for a better deal again.
