Can I take the Metrolink instead of the Amtrak from Anaheim to LA Union Station? This may be a really stupid question. I was certain I could but now when I go to the Metrolink website and choose Saturday it doesn't give me an option.

The Metrolink would be much cheaper for us than Amtrak.

Thanks for any help you can give me. Like I said, I'm sure it's a stupid question but I just need verification!

They run on weekends, but the schedule is very limited. They do have a train that goes from Anaheim to Union Station on Saturday, but you'll have to check your actual Saturday. I think there's only one in the late afternoon. If you're looking for "an option" as in what you see come up on weekdays with the different times, you won't see that. You will only see the one time/route).

heres the problem...on a regular basis you can take the Orange County line to Union Station...but what train you can take varies by what time of day you want to leave out of Anaheim...the trip planner is janky imo...so if you want to go today and you want to leave tonight at 11:25 you would take the 460 bus which is in front of BWPPI and take that to Figueroa and the 7th St and walk to the 7th st metro center station and get on the red line which will take you the Union Station and that would get you in around 1:30am

if you want to get in earlier, you will have to be ready at the bus station before 10pm...same route as far as the bus goes but you take the purple line to Union Station and that would get you in around midnight

Metro definitely runs on the weekends, they have a $10 weekend pass. I'm sure it is possible that some stations are closed, but I doubt Union St would be one of them. Can you call someone? Maybe there is something wrong with the website.

Here is the info on the weekend pass, in case you didn't know about it.
$10 Weekend Pass
Metrolink introduces the Weekend Pass for only $10 per person. This pass is good for unlimited systemwide travel after 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The Weekend Pass is accepted for free transfers to connecting transit services, except Amtrak.

The sale begins at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays. Press "Special Ticket" on the TVM screen and then "$10 Weekend Pass" to purchase.

Thank you. That's what I plan to buy, which is what makes it much more cost-effective for us!

When I look at the schedule it shows a 9:46 am train on Saturdays and one returning from union station around 4:30...these are the two trains we would like to take. But are you all saying it may not run at all at these times? It's for next Saturday.

Thanks!

If the site says so they should be running. As mentioned the schedule is limited on the weekend and there are not trains as often and they remove some early and late trains from the schedule. Those trains from mid morning to late afternoon should be fine.

Becky your best best would be to do google maps online and click on the public transportation link (shows a bus) then put in where you want to go and the times you need then you can get a better idea of when and where you need to be and what times they are...
