Verandah's large enough to sleep on?

Most balconies are not as big as the ones people are posting pictures of. The balconies hold two chairs and a small table. If he wanted to lie down he would have to sleep on the deck.
He also may get rained on. ☔️ It is the tropics. As well as they wash down the decks at night so some water may drip down.

Cat 5E has extended balconies and would be the larger balconies in the photos. I think cat 4E as well.

We were in aft room 6192 and our verandah was definitely big enough to sleep on. DH and I napped out there several times, there really was nothing like it! I just can't sleep well partially sitting up. These were the only chairs provided. The small loungers did lean back a bit, but I like my feet up (I would use the table or other chairs sometimes to prop up my feet, but I couldn't sleep for a long, comfortable time like that).

This particular verandah was almost completely covered so we could enjoy it in the rain, wind, and blazing sun. Our next (non-Disney) cruise we have a regular size verandah and I'm not sure I'm going to like it ;)

Awesome! Thank you for the pics. That looks amazing!

OP here. :) Thanks for all the replies! I think actually we decided to go with 2 inner rooms. The balconies look GORGEOUS but we are going for such a short cruise that I doubt we will be in our room much and it was only $200 more to do 2 rooms. Thanks for the tips! And yes, I will definitely be making him read all your responses about sleep apnea!!!

We just did two inside rooms on the Wonder this last ship. We have sailed twice before, on the big ships, but we did concierge both those times. Got a last minute military discount and two inside rooms this time. I was so worried about the motion, feeling claustrophobic, and not enjoying the trip as much. I had nothing to worry about. When we wanted "balcony" time we just went to Deck 4 where it was quiet and shaded and it was perfect. You will probably read all kinds of posts about people complaining about the inside rooms, but honestly, we would do it again in a heartbeat, especially for a 3 or 4 nighter. Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks! Is there any other "perk" to being on the higher decks as far as getting on and off the ship? We have never cruised before so we weren't sure.

I don't know that getting on/off the ship has any perk by being on the higher decks. Debarkation/embarkation in ports is typically on deck 1 or 2, in my experience. Occasionally on deck 3.

Do you mean concierge perks? They have more perks, but being on Deck 10 is no different than an inside room on a lower deck. There isn't a "class" difference when it comes to getting on and off the ship.

Well, except for embarkation and debarkation day. Concierge gets to board first on embarkation. And they are escorted to the front of the line getting off the ship on debarkation day.

No, I mean if the other post was thinking that being in a room on a higher deck had more perks, that in itself doesn't involve perks, unless it's concierge.

Being on higher decks (except concierge) may mean you have more trouble getting an elevator you can get you and your luggage on on debarkation day. ;)

Thanks, yes, this is what DH was wondering.. if there was a "class" difference when booking the inner rooms vs. the verandah rooms that had other benefits.

I'm a light sleeper too. When I'm sharing a cabin with a snorer, I use earbud headphones and listen to white noise on my phone. It blocks all noise out and I'm in my own little world. I wouldn't depend on him being able to sleep on the veranda. Bring earbuds just in case.

What kind do you use? The normal ones I wear for running or something would definitely fall out or not be comfortable for sleeping.

What is it with men and refusing the study. A certain someone I know gets so mad when I suggest it as just a hey why not rule it out and make me feel better thing. I'm not the only one who has said it and he refuses. It is so frustrating especially know a good friend who lost his dad to my complications of untreated sleep apnea.

When I went for my sleep study I said to the technician I don't know why I'm here, I don't have sleep apnea. He chuckled and said they ALL say that. That was about 7 years ago, and I won't sleep without the machine. We lost a dear friend at a very young age from complications of sleep apnea. He had a machine, but refused to use it. He really should go, it will change his life and yours.

If only I could get it through the thick skull. It worries me all the time. I'd rather him have a paper saying he is okay then him just assume over pride.
