I was reading the bag thread and saw so many of you have a Vera Bradely hipster and use it at the parks. I must get one! Tell me, how big are they inside? Can I carry a tiny camcorder, cell phone, small camera inside? Maybe some medications if I need them?

I'm going to get one off of Ebay -- I just can't get a true idea of the size of them. Anyone have a pic where you are actually wearing the bag? I'm 5'2" so I need something that can go accross my body but not hang too low or too high.

Help! I want to make sure I purchase the correct one! I've never seen one in a store.

thank you!!

Hi there ;) I'm 5'2" myself and I took my hipster to DLR in October. It was great! The strap is adjustable so no worries with it being too long or too short.

Mine held my pocket sized camera, bottle of water, brush, advil bottle, wallet, ipod, and several other small items, including a few random items I purchased such as keychains and such. The bag is about 10 inches by 10 inches give or take and has a pocket on the front that snaps with a zipper pocket on the back. There are also 3 slide in pockets on the interior and the bag itself zips closed.

I really enjoyed taking mine! Just make sure you don't get a mini-hipster unlss you really don't want to carry much. I took one of those too and got everything in there except the water bottle, but I also had to take the ipod out of its case and took my wallet stuff out of the wallet itself to slide into the pouches inside the mini hipster.

Hope that helps!

I can't wait to get mine, they are really cute. What kind of fabric are they made out of? Do you worry about it getting wet at the parks?

My daughter used the mini hipster we got her for last year's trip and really enjoyed it. She fit her cell phone, eyeglass case (so she could take the glasses off if she met any cute boys, of course), money, KTTW and Disney Shopping cards, map, ADR info, and lots of cosmetics and hair stuff. She sometimes crammed in her small camera, but usually I carried it. We knotted the strap so it fit her better. It got wet and there was no problem.

Before Christmas the Vera Bradley website (look under sale) had hipsters for $20 and mini hipsters for $17 in their retiring colors. I haven't checked recently but it's a good place to start if you don't have a paticular pattern you're looking for. I haven't had a big savings buying Vera from ebay.

I bought myself a cargo sling in botanica for $25. DH told me he didn't want me using it while out with him. Said it looks like an old womans purse. MEN!

The Vera Bradley website has a store locator where you can find places that carry them in your area. I see you are in Dallas, so I'm sure there are bound to be several places that have them if you want to see one before buying.

I'm 5'3 (okay 5'2 and 3/4) and I loved the hipster at WDW. It should definitely fit everything you are talking about. I fit a small camera, cell phone, a few diapers and a travel thing of wipes with a few other small things in mine (it was stuffed). I originally bought the mini, but quickly realized that wasn't going to work.

Cotton-yes, I would think you wouldnt want it to get very wet.

They're made to be machine washable so I'm 100% sure it's okay if they get wet. ;)

Having said that, however, it might not be a good idea to have on khaki shorts or a white shirt with a wet dark blue purse...just in case any of the color happens to bleed. I haven't had that happen, but you never know, stranger things have happened.

I just meant that you will have to worry about your things in your purse getting wet if you were to take it on something like Kali River, and it won't dry as quickly as a nylon bag.

That makes sense! With the VB bags being quilted, they can "hold" more water and would stay wetter longer...ew! I'm not a water-ride rider, so that didn't even really enter my mind. Good point!

The website is still having a sale up to 60% off and free shipping over 75$ (9$ to ship otherwise) the prices are always better online then at the stores.

i took a vera bradley bag to the parks on my last trip. it was only a wristlet so i didn't have much inside but i didn't want to take any chances of getting my camera or phone wet. i stuck one of the small disney plastic bags (like you'd get from a gift shop or something) inside my VB and before we got on kali, splash mtn, etc. i took the plastic bag out and stuck my wristlet inside it. worked like a charm! the plastic bag took up almost no room in my wristlet when i wasn't using it and kept my wristlet completely dry when i did use it. i'm sure if you got a larger bag (any plastic bag would work really, i just liked the disney theme) you could do the same thing for the hipster! ;)

I actually took two Hipsters last month! I got a new one during the big sale, and I couldn't decide. They're so small and packable, so I took both.

I carried a Canon S3 (a decent sized camera), Coach Mini Skinny attached to a Coach coin purse, lip gloss, cell phone and anything smaller I happened to get in the parks. I know I fit a couple of toys in it on our AK day, too. It carries a lot more than you think it will.

As far as getting it wet, I fold up a ziptop bag and slip it in one of the front pockets. When we get on a water ride, I pull it out and throw the Hipster into it. When we're done, I wipe off the bag and stick it back into the pocket. Easy peasy!!

Here's the Hipster on its second trip to Disney:

ETA: I'm 5'10, and fully extended, it hits me just right. It's adjustable, of course, so it will hit you where you need it.

Be sure to check out www.ebags.com as well ... their prices are great. I have 2 hipsters and recently got the mini hipster in microfiber. I love them all but didn't carry them at Disney which probably was a good thing ... we were there over the summer during Tropical Storm Faye. I really would not have wanted it to get soaked.

I have a Vb Hipster in Picadilly Plum, which I love! I make sure I bring it with me on the airplane and also into the parks. It is very comfortable, holds alot of stuff and looks great (despite what some husbands may think!!)
You can't go wrong with a hipster or even a mini-hipster :goodvibes

I just bought the hipster, minihipster, and backsack with the matching zip wallets. These will be my first Vera Bradley's and I am so excited. I couldn't decide what would work best in the parks so I got them all. :cool1:

Has anyone used the backsack? It looks small enough to be comfortable but large enough to hold things I will need in the parks.

I usually carry my camera, extra batteries, a small wallet with my KTTW, license, debit and insurance cards, my son's EpiPen and Benadryl and a pen and autograph book. I carry my cell phone in my pocket but would probably sometimes put that in there as well. Would those items fit in the mini-hipster or would I need the regular hipster? I want to get one for my next trip and also any excursions we do at home (zoo, children's museum, etc.).

We travel light - always have even when the kids were babies and in diapers. They will be 8 and almost 6 when we go back so other than medicine and autograph books, I won't be needing to carry anything extra for them.
