Anyone ever use a Vera Bradley Duffel bag as a carry on? I'm traveling for a long weekend (flying), and thought about maybe carrying on my things instead of checking them since I won't be bringing that much. I've been wanting a VB duffel for a long time and though this might be my excuse to finally buy one. Anyone ever do this and what size duffel is ok for carrying on?
Thanks!!

DD has the weekender and it is the perfect size for carryon. I have the large duffel and I think it would be to big to use as a carryon. The weekender also fits under the seat.

We used the Large Duffle to carry on last year. They hold alot and are approved size.

The down side...They do not have wheels. DH flew home before us and between the kids and my carryon, I had had enough and paid the $$ to just check it!

I have the Large Duffel and use it as a carry on! I love it because it fits so much! It doesn't fit under the seat, but is definitely carry on compliant and is perfect for traveling!

I also use the large duffel for carry on! I went to the outlet when they had them on sale for $45 (large) and $35 (small).

The small duffel is too small, in my opinion. It would hold a pair of gym shoes and probably 2 outfits. The large holds everything! It's great!

The large duffel can be used as a carry-on. As someone else posted the down side is no wheels or a shoulder strap. I used mine as a carry-on in dec. I also had a get carried away tote and I missed not having the shoulder strap on the duffel bag.

FYI....The VB Outlet in Wrentham Ma. has duffels on sale there...;)
I went today and received an extra 25% off one item with the coupon booklet the outlet gives out at their customer service counter. ( You need a AAA card, MTA card etc to receive the coupon booklet !)
The VB Store was also were passing out 20% off coupons at the door for purchases of $75.00 or more.
Just thought you may be interested in checking the Oulet out since I saw you were from Rhode Island ! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the info! I wasn't sure if the duffel was carry-on compliant, but now that i know so many of you have brought them on, I'm definitely going to purchase one! I think I'm going to go with the large one.

Thanks for this info! I didn't realize they were on sale there, but that's where I would be purchasing it. Hmmm...I may have to take a ride tomorrow. Thanks again!:goodvibes

The large VB duffel is my constant companion on flights and I fly a lot. I love it. Finally learned how much to pack so its user friendly. Its suprising how much it holds:cool1::cool1:

I travel with my large duffel as a carry-on all the time! DD has the small one which fits her stuff and that one fits under the seat.

I prefer the "weekender" or I think it use to be called the "satchel". Anyway, I have 2 of them and love them! I use them as a carryon all the time. I can really pack a lot in it and it has multiple slip in pockets on the inside and out. Also a zippered compartment on the outside. I like that it has handles, and a shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is more comfortable to me than the duffle bag straps. Especially when full.

We rarely check luggage anymore; only if the airline offers free checked bags. I just bought a Vera large duffle for our trip last week. I checked the dimensions on Airtran's website and compared it to the measurements on Vera's. I carried it on and off the plane w/ no issues. I didn't use it as a carry-on specifically; didn't access it during the flight for books, ipod, etc. It was packed to the gills with my clothes and DD's clothes. It would not have fit under the seat, but worked just fine in the overhead bin. It was a bit heavy to carry, luckily I had DH for that :).

I also have a Miller bag that I used for my carry on/diaper bag and it worked really well. It fit perfectly under the seat in front of me and it zips closed so I don't lose anything. It also has a lot of pockets inside to keep organized. That's the one thing I don't like about the large duffle, there's only one pocket and it's on the outside.

i take my rolling carry on and a vera miller bag as my "giant purse"

in my giant purse is a vera wristlet, hipster and mini hipster.

if you go online today... everything in "she loves me" is 50% off!!

You sound like me! DH makes fun of me with all my Vera stuff when we travel! I have my rolling Vera luggage, the weekender bag, the villager, and ditty bag for my shoes, the wallet, and make up bag, all in the Java Blue print! Gotta love the Vera Bradley bags! :thumbsup2

On our last flight there was a man with is wife and 4 daughters, all had the large VB duffels. The Dad entered the plane carrying four duffels!! What a nice guy!!

I have used a Miller bag as my carry-on before and it worked good.

I live in Fort Wayne, IN where Vera Bradley is from. I know they are known everywhere now but it still amazes me. I am looking forward to the up coming outlet sale, always great deals and a good time.:yay:

my daughter uses hers as a dance bag but did use it as a carry on last summer she loves it and it was perfect.
