Venue privacy?

To make a long story short, my DH and I were planning our ceremony at Sunrise Terrace, but my best friend is unexpectedly able to attend now so we will have to change venues. DH and I visited SBP during our vacation last year, and we thought it was lovely but didn't like the idea of resort guests being able to walk by. I know the YCG is surrounded by the resort, but wasn't sure of how busy foot traffic was in the area.

So would this leave an Epcot ceremony or a wedding pavilion ceremony as our only options for a private ceremony? :confused3 We considered a DCL wedding, but due to FIL's health issues this is no longer an option.

We were married at SBP and had no problems with unwelcome people. People do walk by and some applaud or wish congratulations after but those who did were wonderful. We actually enjoyed it.

Remember, if you do Epcot your only option is a 9am ceremony, and you're required to charter transportation for your guests- and charters are a 5 hour minimum. In-park ceremonies also aren't allowed any outside vendors, including photography or videography. It can add up fast. The WP would probably be a good option if you want privacy, but it's so popular you might have trouble getting your date. Who knows though, always worth a try!

The Yacht Club Gazebo is set waaaaaay back from the main path, so the only lookyloos you get are people in the rooms (which does happen, but if you're there in the morning/daytime, most guests are out in the parks anyway).

If you're doing a Wishes ceremony, there are many other options for ceremony locations, like some of the lawns and courtyards at BoardWalk Inn, Shipwreck Beach (maybe too public for your taste), the GF Marina (also public!), etc.

Honestly, if this unexpected addition is only putting you one person over the limit at Sunrise Terrace and you feel strongly about using that venue, I'd talk to your planner about whether they're really going to make you move. The guest limit at that location used to be higher, and while there is no doubt a good reason why they lowered it, I can hardly see one person being the tipping point.

We just got married on shipwreck beach a few weeks ago, while I realized it was going to be public, there was a serious crowd. We also got married at 5pm so I'm sure that didn't help. It was definitely overwhelming walking out to the beach with people all lined up but once we hit the sand it was just us and our close friends and family, we forgot about all the people watching. In the end it was fun to have everyone say congrats as we walked the boardwalk! And we lucked out and got the fabulous Jennifer to take gorgeous pics! :)):goodvibes

We are using Sea Breeze Point at 10am. We were there for our planning session and visited the site. It was about noon and there was no one around. I thought it was a great spot. This was just a couple weeks ago, so I think it should be ok. There are two ferries that shuttle people from the Boardwalk Resort to Epcot and the resort across the lake (don't remember the name). They don't run too often and they didn't make much noise. It is a beautiful venue, completely shaded and a great view.

I got married at SBP, and we walked there from BW...Randy Chapman snapped pics the whole way there and during the ceremony, and one of the first things I said when I looked through the pics was "Wow I didn't realize there were many onlookers" We were so wrapped up in the wedding and each other that we absolutely didn't notice anyone around...and although SBP is "public" it certainly didn't feel that way to us...
