First of all, Renee, you've been VERY SUCCESSFUL!!! 50 pounds gone, because you worked at it.

So you know how to take the weight off and be successful. And you're 50 pounds healthier than you were when you started!!!

You, my friend, are a SUCCESS!!!

Now, about those weakends. You know that they are a problem. You've identified the enemy, and now you need to work on a plan of attack!

You say you spend the weekends with friends and running around with the kids. Are you and your friends going out to lunches and eating together? If so, can you enlist their help?

If they are caring friends, I bet they'll be glad to help you stay on plan. Can you try to take the focus off of food when you're together? If you're going out to eat, can you identify where you're going in advance, and choose a healthier menu selection in advance, instead of being influenced and nibbling at the table?

And running around with the kids- are you driving through fast food places then? If that's it, do you need help identifying some safer fast food selections?

It sounds like the weekends are very busy for you. If you can identify WHY it's hard to stay on program, maybe we can help you brainstorm some strategies to stay in control...

What Kathy just said! :hyper:

Renee, I just posted to your journal sweetie. You have accomplished so much. 50 pounds is just incredible! One of the things you can do is to work on changing your mind set a little. It's good of you to admit that you feel you can go back to eating your old way once you get to goal but you know deep down inside you can't do that, right? That might be a first step: acknowledge that the way you eat now is for life! That's not a bad thing at all. I do a mix of South Beach and Atkins and I love love love just about everything I put in my mouth. I refuse to do a plan where I hate the food or miss all the old stuff I used to eat. Do you miss all that old carby bad stuff? Maybe that's why you go off plan on the weakends. Try to focus on all the delicious foods you can eat. Vow to only eat yummy on plan foods.

Also, since you know in advance your weakends are full of activities plan your meals ahead of time. Make meal planning a priority, even if it means taking foods with you. I've done that from the beginning and I'll take my own foods with me to gatherings in a minute if I feel there won't be anything on plan for me to eat. You seem to eat out a lot. I do from time to time on the weekends too. I like to look at the menus on line and get an idea of what I can have and focus on those foods and those foods only so that when I get to the restaurant, I have already made up my mind to stay OP.

Finally, I keep this definition of cheating in mind and it stops me dead in my tracks everytime: a cheat is not eating french fries or cookies, a cheat is when you make a commitment to yourself to get healthy and go back on that promise!

You have lost 50 pounds (that's 5-10 pound bags of potatoes)! You can lose the rest. You just have to believe in yourself, stay focused and determined. We can do this together, okay?:cheer2:

Kathy and Lisa have such great advice there's not much I can add except to reiterate what Lisa said, a cheat is not eating french fries or cookies, a cheat is when you make a commitment to yourself to get healthy and go back on that promise! I used to binge every afternoon when I came home from work because I would be so hungry. It would just spin out of control. And then I would hate myself. You're doing more that sabotaging your diet, your undermining your entire self-esteem. Without the self-esteem, the diet is pretty much worthless.

Maybe you can work on just getting through one Saturday on program to see how that feels. Have a big balanced breakfast and go from there. One day a weekend on program is better than none. We know you can do this. There's so much more at stake than just your weight.
