Vent. When someone buys the gift you've been saving to buy for them...

I just scanned the responses, so maybe I read this incorrectly, but don't buy the Wii and sit it back. In several years it might not work correctly and it will be obsolete.

There are a lot of cool things at Target that he might not have that he would enjoy. Ipod, PS3 (prices have come down, not sure if they are in your range),camera, camcorder, PSP, DSi, etc.

My DH would be in heaven if I took him in and said go crazy shopping. I think this is what I would do.

Otherwise, hang onto the GC and do all your Xmas and grocery shopping there.

I'm going to give it to him now to keep at my house. He's there weekends and often 1 or 2 weeknights.

He's not a camera person. He has a PS3 (keeps it at my house actually lol), PSP, DS & some equivalent of an ipod. He's a hardcore gamer. He actually is a musician and does cover songs of video game music. There is no music related stuff he wants either though. He even has a giant stand up arcade pac man game at his house. When I say he has every game system, he really does.

He's the hardest person to shop for, ever.

I still like the idea, but his friend thinks the Wii is better. I kind of agree with the reasoning that if I take him to go crazy shopping, he will likely end up not using it all that day and will then use the gc's to buy day to day things instead of a "gift".

Why don't you just sit down with your boyfriend and 1) tell him why your upset and 2) see if there isn't something else he might like.

I'm with Merekc just give him the Target cards and let him go crazy.

a guy friend and I were just chatting about this and he thinks it would be fun if I just totally shocked bf and took him to Target and pretend I have to pick up some small thing, like socks or a utensil or something.

And then wander towards the electronics aisle where they keep the Wii, games & the tv he wants. While he's standing there, just kind of smile at him, take the cards out of my purse, and hand them to him and say something like "bunch of games, your own Wii, or almost enough to buy that TV if you wanted to....either way, we're not leaving til you have yourself a shopping spree"

Thoughts? My friend said if his gf did that, he'd be in man heaven lol.

I like this idea. That way, after playing a his brother's Wii for a month he'll know if he just wants more games, if he really enjoys the Wii, or if he wants an Xbox, etc. You can still tell him your original idea. :)

Maybe I am weird, but we never celebrated dating anniversaries.

Get him something else or take him out to the movies and dinner. I really think you are over reacting to this. He never even knew you were buying it.

I think the whole idea is sweet. It reminds me of all the little things DH does and its one of the reasons were married.Every year DH still gives me a card on the anniversary of our first date

DH is not into gaming but he is into fishing. While he is not getting the big item he wants for that right now (a boat, he goes with my BIL) he still loves all the accessories that go along with it. Who knew you could have an entire storage shed filled with fishing equipment?

so anyway OP...Do you have a relationship with DBF brother where you could call and tell him your plan and ask if there is a big game coming out DBF wants? Or maybe some accessories that go with it? Maybe a battery charger or a fun game you can do together? Our family loves Mario Kart for the wii. Target online also has many other things so check there too!!

Thanks Niki. I think it's sweet too. He remembers the day we met and reminds me every month. I don't know if he'll always do it, but it's the little things like that. :lovestruc

Oh, I believe there could be a whole shed full of fishing stuff because I never believed there could be a whole closet full of gaming systems. :lmao: Anything is possible.

I don't know his brother very well. We spend most of our time at my place because I am allergic to his brothers pets. But I do have a pretty good relationship with his two best friends so I can ask them about other stuff.
