VENT: Ted Kennedy!

I'm in a lousy position since I don't like any of them! Hate Kerry and Kennedy. Don't like Bush all that much.

I'm trying to decide whether to just not vote or write my own name in for fun.

FIK, i'm assuming she means a member of the armed forces who is not in combat. like for example, a military intelligence analyst.

I thought she was referring to all those military people that show up on the news channels and offer their opinions.

This has been very interesting reading if you can bypass all the insults being thrown at people. Both sides of the issue have good points. I don't claim to be an expert on these things so I am finding all this interesting.

What I don't like is the name calling....and especially the use of the word "retard" in referring to Bush. I don't like that word being used towards anybody. I had a brother who was retarded and that someone would use that word in a derogatory manner just boils my blood.

I would like to remind you that anyone that is in the military is making sacrifices of some kind, whether they sit behind a desk or whether they are serving on the front lines. Obviously, some military jobs are much more dangerous than others, but I don't really see the point insulting those that ended up in non-combat positions.

I'm a computer analyst/programmer, and I've never seen a day of combat in my life, but I can assure you that I'm "true military" too.

I didn't mean to slight you or anyone else. I was trying to point out that there are people who do not support the military (at the scene or behind the scene) that are there just to collect that check. No offense meant, I value the entire military, not just those in peril.

Only those that hate their boss, are very vocal about it, and then have the nerve to complain. I'd rather see someone (like Vamp and WV) who are so "passionate" get off their behinds and do something for whatever their cause actually is. Instead they whine, call names, disrespect our leader (regardless of whether they agee with him or not, they need to respect what he stands for----US)

I can see how some read into my comments about desk jockey military, I apologize, I was not putting down or devaluing support staff, I know they are just as important as the ladies and gentlemen at the front lines.

BTW my dad was awarded the bronze star in Vietnam, my grandfather the silver star in WW2 and my dad was a defense department auditor for years. Please understand how much I appreciate our military

Just reopening old wounds...since I was at work and I missed the latter half of the debate where we decided military members who weren't in combat were worthless and just collecting a paycheck.

When YOU go to work and have a hundred lives or so lost on whether YOU forget to puncuate a report right, then you can start telling me...or my platoon of twenty five soldiers, that our jobs are useless.

AND...if I were going to be court martialed for speaking out against the commander in chief, it would have happened a long time ago with a mouth as big as mine. The fact is, only officers can be tried under UCMJ for badmouthing the president, and that's only because he directly commisions them. Enlisted men have always had the freedom of political opinion, and it's been proven legally time and again. Hell, I even encourage it amongst my troups. Moderated debate/discussion can build morale, cohesion and awareness of our governments traditions/political systems.

AND...Security has checked my website regularly through the course of my career, as have my commanders and first line supervisors. They email me corrections/deletions I need to make and I make them. So, yes, my opinions are well and widely known, and I'm still doing my job every day. I can give you the number to my commander if anyone is THAT offended. But I can assure you, all he'll say is I'm a damn fine NCO and entitled to whatever opinion I damn well please.

A soldier does not have to be a die hard republican, or even a supporter of the President. He just has to follow his orders, knowing their futility and foolishness...because he hopes and prays the man above him knows something he doesn't.

Now once again, let's talk about opinions, not about people and their qualifications for making them.

So...can we all agree...Ted Kennedy for Vice President?

Yea Kennedy for VP, No wait, how about Jane Fonda
What a Liberal Loser Left combo

After all these years, now its my turn

DOWN WITH KERRY

DOWN WITH KERRY

DOWN WITH KERRY

VM Vet and PROUD of it!!!!!

I agree. I love a good discussion. My dh and I do it frequently. He is a bleeding heart liberal and I am more of a pick apart everything kind of person.

I'm not sure where you got this information, but it is incorrect. While enlisted personnel cannot be charged for contemptuous words under Article 86, Contempt Towards Officials, they can be charged under Article 92, Failure to Obey An Order Or Regulation. There is a DoD directive that regulates political activities by active duty members, and contemptuous speech against the President is one of the prohibited activities.

I totally support your right to have YOUR opinion on Bush/Kennedy, etc. but you should also respect the views of others who differ with you and not arbitrarily decide that any one who does not agree with you is not in their right mind.

I really hate the liberal ploy of calling anyone who does not agree with them stupid and uneducated. (not your words I understand - you only implied crazy).

I have multiple degrees from some of the top universities in the country - I am neither stupid not uneducated. Nor am I the product of privilege. One grandfather was a coal miner and the other a sharecropper. I grew up in real poverty (per the gov. definition.) and worked my way out with VERY hard work.

Well said, arminnie.

It's a pet peeve of mine that if I don't agree with someone politically, it must be because I don't understand the issues or because (and this is one of my favorites) "I understand that the military teaches you to follow blindly, so that's why you support XYZ".

simple question for all the Bush bashers, do you agree with the people who think Bush should have gone after Al Quaida before 9-11

If he were a soldier and he were driving a tank, he'd probably wreck into water, his comrade drown, and he wouldn't even notify anyone or ask for help until the next day!

You wouldn't have to worry about that happening ...he would have to put his drink down!! And that's not happeing.

#1) I am not a Bush Basher. I am, however, a Democrat solely based on social and tax policies, period. 9-11 is NOT my deciding vote. And NO I am not a socialist.

Now that I have watched Rice testify I will have to say that our governement in general is messed up. The levels of legal policy and political backstabbing are disgusting.
Each administration is stomped on and forced to play "King of the Hill" all the the darn time. It makes me sick.

if you were not going to give a simple answer to a simple question...why quote my question..??

I do however agree with the second part of your answer, I think it's time for politicians to remeber that they are AMERICANS first,,,party affiliation should be secondary,,they need to stop the partisan fighting and do what's best for us,,the citizens of the the USA

If he had credible information, yes. I have a feeling though that if they had gone looking it wouldn't have been in Afghanistan.
