VENT: Ted Kennedy!

I respect Vamp's right to his opinion - regardless of his vocation. This is, after all, America. Or at least it was. :(

I don't see Vamp laying down her cushy, well paying, great benefitted job in order to not follow.... Making the choice to follow and participate is what the military at Nuremburg were prosecuted for.

I interrupt this political debate for the following outburst...

WVREVY!!! Where have you been hiding!! We miss you over on the Collectors Board!!!!

Thank you - now you may return to your bickering ;)

No matter how clearly you state facts (real facts... not "wish it were true" or "this is what *Mr* President wants you to believe "facts") nothing will change their minds.

I would be happy to consider facts and possibly change my mind if any actual facts were presented from the Bush Bashing Brigade.

Do you have some? Facts, that is?

wvrevy's attacks have included name-calling and childish, rude remarks (no personal offense intended, wv, JMO). That's fine for a message board, but I don't think we can honestly call that 'truthful debate'.

Mickey...I don't take offense, because I am very passionate about my politics.

However, I do take exception to your statement above. I don't think I have called anybody on this board any names, other than "republican", and that was only done in response to someone using the word "liberal" like it was supposed to be an insult.

I don't need to resort to name-calling or fear-mongering (the white house's tactic), as the truth is on my side in this debate :)

I'll go back and re-read this thread, but I believe my "tone" is only in response to similar tactics by the other side of this debate. If not, and it turns out I started that that level of the debate, I apologize...but again, I don't think that was the case...

did you know that he gave the chinese nuclear{bomb} technology,,that was certainly a brilliant idea....

have you ever read about the trail of bodies he left in Arkansas as governor......??

Yeah MICKEY88! Clinton had more issues than just poor moral judgement. Its funny in this day and age when we all feel entitled to full and 100% error free disclosure on National Security issues, that democratic candidate supporters fair to point out Clintons history of telling lies. Some examples, Gennifer Flowers, "I didn't inhale", "I did not have sexual intercourse with that girl", lying about the document removal following the WH attorneys suicide, White Water, the Travel Dept. scandal involving Hillary. All of these issues are 100% personal knowledge that former President Clinton had, not from info provided to him, and yet he still lied about them.

Has GWB said things that were proven false, yes. Were these issues that he had commented on with 100% personal knowledge of, no. No president, democrat or republican, will ever have all the answers right, nor will they have completely correct intelligence. But there is a big difference between lying intentionally about things you are sure of and being proven wrong at a later date because you relied on bad info.

Last time I checked, blindly following orders to kill can make you an accessory to murder a'la Nuremberg Trials.

Nice try, but no cigar. Following unlawful orders in war is a crime. Following lawful orders is not. Show me where unlawful orders have been issued, and I'll agree with your contention. Otherwise, you're just barking at the moon...

Clinton was a very well educated intelligent person. Bush is a retard who can't even pronounce words correctly. It's pointless to argue with a brainwashed Republican though so I'm not going to bother. Go ahead and continue to feed on your factitious right wing propaganda.

Here's the facts on your Clinton Body Count BS. I'm sure it will be dismissed by you though because it doesn't come from Rush Limbaugh.

Even Senator Heinz, oops I mean Kerry, voted FOR the war with IRAQ ( again, that is before he voted against it LOL), GWB didn't make this decision alone.

Woops, sorry...Was intended for Goof, not Mickey :)

I'm pretty much done with this argument, though...I've twice now asked a republican to back up there comments, and suddenly I'm invisible...lol....Can't say I'm surprised, but it does make carrying on a debate rather difficult when the other side just makes up whatever it wants, then shifts the topic if they are asked to put up or shut up.

You wrongly assume that Bush didn't know the WMD's did not exist. Also, there's a HUGE difference between lying about what goes on in your personal life and lying about the reason for going to war.

Mickey - WVREVY is obviously unaware of her tone, forget about it, she's a complainer. As she collects her gov't check and benefits for just showing up at work, she has nothing but time to criticize the doers of the political establishment that actually put their neck on the line. I doubt many of the military personnel here and abroad support her, but I'm darn glad they're there to support me.

It seems that she's a little freaked out over the fact that GWB has had the guts to act, the sense to surround himself with good (but human and fallible) people, and the wisdom to seek God's will for the U.S.

Unless you have proof that President Bush did know that the WMDs didn't exist, how can you possibly say that the HANDYMOM's assumption is wrong?

Perhaps you wrongly assume that he did know they didn't exist.

Anything that is negative towards the moron-in-chief is automatically discounted by his supporters.

wv -- No, you haven't called anyone on the boards names. I was referring to comments such as the one above.

It seems we have a lot of people who are passionate about their politics and I say good for them! Isn't it wonderful that we live in a place where we can fuss, stomp, spew, and spit about this and then meet up on a different thread in a little while and everything's ok. This is the kind of place I want to live! :D

i'm assuming wvrevy is a man since his ct says "elora's dad." :)

And who sent us to that horrible conflict in Vietnam? None other than Kennedy's brother!

A slight nitpick here, but JFK had very little to do with the war in Vietnam. The first US troops were sent there in the 1950s, but large-scale US involvement didn't occur until Lyndon Johnson's Gulf of Tonkin Resolution in 1963, after Kennedy was assasinated.

That said, Ted Kennedy's politics are about as good as his swimming abilities, but that's generally my opinion of any politician who makes a career of doling out largesse and promoting the 'victim of society' mentality.

Well, that'll certainly get me back for one more post, at least:

1 - If you had better reading comprehension than the president you support, you'd have noticed the comment "Elora's Dad" under my name....But why should I expect anything that actually requires deductive reasoning out of a republican ?

2 - Um, hello Pot, this is the kettle...I've got something I need to tell you...........You might want to check your own tone before complaining about mine. Look in a mirror.

3 - I served my time in the military, and am now a productive member of society....When / where did you serve ? What do you do now ? Or are you just another chicken hawk who's mouth isn't backed up by her actions ? You're awfully quick to run down those "getting government checks" when in the next breath you prattle on about how much you support our military.

Quite frankly, ma'am, you're a hypocrite...and I'll thank you to keep your personal comments to yourself, as you aren't qualified to judge me unless you've done the things I have.

I'm anxiously awaiting your response about when and where you served.....

I guess I missed the section of the Constitution that says only people that have served in the military have the right to voice their opinions on military actions undertaken by this country...

I never said that. But I'll be d****d if I'll sit and listen to someone tell me I don't have a right to my opinion (I'm just a "complainer", right) or make out like I don't support our country when I DID serve.
