Vent: Please don't stand up on the rides

You'd think this was obvious, but don't stand up or get out of rides. We've had to deal with this twice lately.

Hubby and son got stuck on Pirates of the Carribean because someone jumped out of a boat. They stop the rides when people do this stuff. The ride wouldn't restart and they had to sit there for an hour and a half.

Then wed. my son and I got stuck on Goofy's Barnstormer for the same reason. Someone stood up on the coaster so they stopped it, and where our cart stopped, it got stuck. I swear we were no more than 4-5 feet off the ground and could have easily jumped. But of course we had to wait for the fire department to come get us with ladders. It took forever and it was hot and a waste of everyone's time. (Disney was nice enough to give us fast passes and some water bottles.)

So just as an FYI, don't do idiotic things on rides. They have cameras and they can see you.

Some critters ain't never gonna learn. Standing up even on a dark ride can be dangerous!

That's why they added those pesky lap bars on Splash Mountain. Too many people were standing up during the attraction.

Som people are just idiots! That coaster picture is really funny though It looks like you all could just step over the side of the car...and here they are with ladders. The rescuers are taller than the sides of the cars

That's why they added those pesky lap bars on Splash Mountain. Too many people were standing up during the attraction.

Some time back they had a guy who climbed out of the log trying to leave the ride, he got killed because he fell in and the next log hit him. The logs are heavy. There are good reasons why they stop everything when someone stands up on rides like that.

When I was at a local theme park recently and at the top of a hill of a roller coaster reading the sign "no standing", I thought, what kind of dumb&*^ would stand up on a roller coaster? Thinking there was no way there would be somebody that stupid out there. Apparently there is. I would probably end up flipping out if I got stuck on a broken down ride for an hour or more. All I can say, is I hope the guilty parties got a lifetime ban from the parks.

We really were that low. We had just come out of the loading area and hadn't even gone up the ramp. I could have hopped down and reached up and grabbed my son. I wasn't really mad at Disney because I know they have to follow the rules. But it sure made me wish I knew who stood up because it was crazy hot and took forever for the rescue team to arrive.

The CMs stood there and kept us entertained, lol

All I can say, is I hope the guilty parties got a lifetime ban from the parks.

Ugh, that looks hot an miserable, what a waste of time! We had some idiots do that on the Backlot Tour and they stopped the ride just before the canyon explosion scene, pretty much the only reason we even went on the ride, so we never did get to see that.

Unfortunately common sense isn't all that common anymore. Sorry that happened to you twice, OP! And sorry to say, I laughed at the pictures of the ladders next to the ride vehicle. I get being all about safety, but really?! But then, I guess you would have someone that would sue Disney if they hopped out wrong and twisted their ankle!

I would be ROYALLY pissed if I had to waste even 15 minutes on a stuck ride.

I was on SM once and they stopped the ride and made an announcement about not standing up. Only delayed for about 2 minutes. When we were exiting the ride and walking out I saw a CM talking to a woman and a kid around 10 or so and heard the CM tell them that if the kid did anything like that again they would be ejected from the park immediately. Don't know how they handle it when the disruption is more of a problem or if the offender is grown, but in that instance it appeared to be a "you-get-one-and-only-one-warning" circumstance.

We were stuck on Toy Story Mania when someone dropped their glasses when loading. Once the glasses were retrieved the ride started to go the idiot in front of my girls wiggled his way out of the restraints stopping the ride. My girls are in wheelchairs so we had to wait for the fire department to come and lift them off the ride.

I was on spaceship earth, and a woman in the car in front of us, starting jumping out of the car, screaming she has Claustrophobia, and afraid of the dark.

Ok, why would you walk into a dark building, and get on the ride?

I can't even fathom the amount of stupid it takes to stand up on any ride or allow your child to do so. Personally, if the offender is a minor it should be one warning for a first offense and then ejection for a second. If the offender is an adult (18+) it should be ejection for a first offense and then banning for a second offense.

We had that problem in May and July too. I speculate alot of the 'the rides break down more' complaints are not actually rides breaking down but guest doing stuff to make the rides stop.

Our worst was we did Soarin twice during Illuminations then did Living with the Land with enough time to get off and have another spin or two on Soarin. Some idiot got up near the end of LwtL and walked out. They were 2 boats in front of us, we yelled at them, the CM was coming over the speaker time and time again asking them to remain seated and not get out. The people in thier own boat were also telling them to sit down, they seemed to not speak english. We had to wait thru a complete reset of the ride took over 30 minutes. The boats drifted on thier own once the water current was cut off we ended up almost back in the greenhouse. We of course missed Soarin as it was closed and missed being able to take a boat back to the BWI where we were parked (in valet). So we had to go out front wait 20 minutes for a bus to BWI (which also went to DHS, BC, and YC before BWI) then to our car and back to our resort. It was not a good way to end the night.

Completely agree. Bugs me when people automatically assume that the ride they were stopped on "broke down" and then giant-leap to the conclusion Disney is going downhill. People are going downhill. Somebody fix that please.

Luckily I think the worst we've had is someone standing repeatedly on Living With the Land last year, but all they did then was make an announcement telling them to sit down. I think that happened three times in one ride.

I don't know if it's true, but I read that on Splash Mountain people were doing it for kicks or because they were panicking at the thought of going down that drop, and apparently it is possible to get out of the log without getting in the water (or was, obviously you can't now.)
