VENT! Major league baseball play-off times!!!!

So I am so incredibly happy that our Pittsburgh Pirates are in the play-offs for the first time in 21 years.

I bought tickets for Mondays game here at PNC park. The game time was just announced and its 3:07pm.

Seriously??? Do MLB people think us "real" people dont work?

I just texted my boss to see if I can leave early Monday. I seriously am not sure what she'll say. DH will have to take a vacation day and I'll have to pull DS early from school ( high school freshman)

I bought the tickets a few days ago from a resale ticket place. I paid about $30 per ticket over face value. I dont want to sell them because we want to go but really why cant the games be in the evening? Ridiculous!!!!!!

Oh, yeah - we're trying to figure out why the A's game on Saturday is in the evening. The A's play in the last of the multi-use stadiums. The Raiders have a game on Sunday, that now has to start at 8:30 PM! It takes a minimum of 18 hours to convert the ballpark to a football field.

Nuts! It's all up to the TV Networks (who knew that TBS wielded such power!)

Our cable company is in a tiff with all turner broadcasting stations. So the cable company has blocked their stations.

This means dh and I are missing the Dodgers braves series. Dh is a Dodgers fan and the rest of us are Braves fans. We were looking forward to a good series of games. Boo!

I'm hating it too. Since our first series is on the west coast 3 of 5 games start too late for our kids to watch, and 1 of the 2 home games is mid-day on a weekday while they're still in school and DH is at work. So much for watching as a family. :-(

We bought tickets for Saturday not knowing the game time and being afraid it was a 1 pm game, which would have messed up an appointment we can't miss in the morning. We were happy with the 6 pm time. But my Raiders fans coworkers are livid about the Sunday game.

I just glanced at it it's five bucks for all tbs games, I guess you can't get the actually broadcast though. There are ten stationary cameras and you can watch four at a time, you do get the tbs audio. It's intended as companion coverage I guess but it's better than nothing and only five bucks.

I am happy. Actually happy isnt the word, more like ecstatic!!!!!


But doesnt change the fact we have to do major rearranging just to attend a MLB play-off game.

To another poster, yes there are other games, but hockey has a ton of play-off games also and all of their games end up in the evening slot on weekdays.
An afternoon game on a weekend no big deal.

So my boss of only 3 months said I can leave early Monday. Luv her!!!!
DH I assume will take a vacation day and DS will leave school about 12:30.

I feel much better about the game Monday but bummed we cant buy tickets to other games unless its a weekend game. I cant take the chance this may happen again.

Having playoff games and World Series during the day is not a new thing. When I was in 9th grade, we got off school to watch the World Series. That was 45 years ago.

The Raiders game would have been scheduled months ago, as part of the normal football season. Nobody would have known back then that the A's would be in the playoffs. It sounds more like a matter of fitting in the baseball game than rescheduling the football one.

Oh yea. Heck, they predicted rain here for one of the games and they moved the game time based on the weather to 2:30 without warning. You got less than 24hr warning.
