Vent in Utility Room- Do I need To Keep It?

I vent in my laundry room all the time.......

Why are the socks always inside out.... Why am I the only one in the house to empty pockets before throwing the clothes into the hamper..... Why did they not tell me about the spot until it was set in for a week..... Why..... Why..... Why.....

No opinions on your venting issues but the title got my attention!

I snapped a couple of more pics, two showing the venting from the furnace and water heater and one showing the vent cover on the outside of the house. My goal for now is to be able to leave the vent covered this winter then I dont mind opening back up in the spring if needed. And if I can remove it then all the better. Hopefully these will help some:

It is hard to see from the outside pic if the louvers work for air going out or going in. But it looks like they are for air going out like an old dryer vent.

Stuff rags in the the vent for now. Fix it in summer.

Sorry, I forgot to type on my prior post- the louvers dont move on that outside vent, and if I recall correctly it has a piece of mesh window type screen right behind the louvers. I am guessing not for a dryer?

No... That is a louvered fresh air intake. Wire mesh is there for the critters'. For now, just plug it with a rag or towel and be done with it
