Vent! Am I the only one....?

VENT!
Am I the only one that is bothered by typos on the boards? I don't mean a one letter typo. I mean posts that are so littered with typos and misspellings that they are nearly unintelligible. I just read a reply to a post on the Resorts board that was so full of typos, I couldn't figure out what the heck she was trying to say. How many of you take the time to read your posts before you click SUBMIT?

A lot of typos bother me, but the occasional typo in a post doesn't.

I have a hard time catching the errors before I submit. They seem easier to find after I read my post on the thread. I then go back and edit.

The one mistake that I hate the most: "alot"

"A lot" is two words not one.

I usually just ignore the typos. People are busy and don't always have the time to reread everything they type on the boards. Some people just aren't very good spellers. When I make a typo, it's usually because my fingers work faster than my brain

That being said, I can't help but notice typos in posts because I'm trained as a copy editor, but I still ignore them.

I actually think typos can be fun, especially in chats I never miss a good opportunity to give a little good natured teasing at a silly type.

I'm more annoyed by people who don't use capital letters in their posts in the proper places (especially when they don't put a capital letter at the beginning of people's names). I find those harder to read.

I hope I didn't have any typos in this post I'm not rereading it before hitting send.

It doesn't bother me in the least. In my opinion this is a board where people just come to enjoy themselves, they shouldn't have to worry about spelling and grammer.

I love to type with ......... I will say something then........and continue.......blah.....blah......blah.......blah. As long as the point is gotten across why does it matter??

Remember its a board for FUN FUN FUN FUN......not school!

Poor spelling drove me crazy when I was a teacher then God sent me a wonderful son with severe dyslexia. He can not spell a lick.

I do check my posts but sometimes I find I let a few slip through. If Im in a rush and its only 1 I will usually let it go, but if I notice a bunch in one post, I make sure to fix them.

It isn't so much the typos that bother me. I have a problem with people that refuse to use punctuation or create paragraphs, which makes it very difficult to read their posts.

I also get annoyed when use loose instead of lose or sight instead of site. I realize it sounds petty and anal, but I don't think they realize just how difficult it is to read posts that are filled with spelling and grammar errors.

I have always said that only a narrow minded person will spell a word just one way

I just have a bias against 'your' when it ought to be 'you're'. That's not a typo, that's bad grammar. I'm as likely as anyone to goof, I just try my best not to appear too stupid.

You have just named my number one pet peeve!! My husband thinks I am a spelling snob, but that one drives me crazy!
And as a high school English teacher told me, "a lot is a piece of property". I can tolerate the occasional typo. It is the unreadable posts that I cannot tolerate! Take just a minute to re-read your post. If you don't have time to make it readable, come back later when you DO have time!!

Spelling bothers me, typo's don't. I for one use 2 different keyboards, this one, the laptop is much smaller, which means I can hit the wrong key without knowing what is happening...A lot of times I'll catch it, but sometimes I don't.

Complete posts like trip reports in ONE paragraph REALLY bug me. If I open a trip report and it's all one paragraph, I hit the back button quick....It can actually give me a headache!..

Sight, Site, Your, You're etc... bug me too....but then again, maybe they really don't know they are using the wrong spelling of said word? It's like the to, two, and too. No, and Know REALLY get me though....even my DD7 knows the difference between no and know!

I won't flame you, I notice those things all the time, too. I try not to let it bother me, I know that a lot of people never had typing and don't realize they should probably proof read their posts. I know some very intelligent people who are terrible at typing their thoughts out online!
