vent about Rainforest Cafe

OK, so this may be slightly OT, but I just had to vent. I got my $10 off b-day coupon e-mail for Rainforest. Printed it out and was going to use it next week while at DD. But I just noticed the very fine print that you must present the e-mail and Safari Club membership card to use it. So since I have absolutely no memory of ever even receiving it (knew I had joined like 4-5 years ago but forgot all about it later); I called Landry's Corporate Office to see if they could e-mail proof of a card or something. The answer was "absolutely not." She said they mailed it to me 4 1/2 years ago and would have to pay to rejoin to get a new card. Which would be dumb, since I don't live by one, and the cost to rejoin would totally negate my b-day coupon! And especially, since I am obviously already a member since I get the e-mails. And yes, she already told me I could only use one discount there at a time. So if I used the b-day one, I couldn't use the other discounts of being a member or rejoining. So needless to say, we won't be going to Rainforest Cafe or other Landry restaurants. I even asked to speak to someone else, and she said no. Don't even feel like calling back to try again now. :headache: Sorry and thanks for letting me vent, though.

wow talk about bad customer service. They can't deny you to talk to a manager. I'm sure that's against their corperate standards. I would call back and ask for speak to a manager right away.

I can't stand their food, at least the one in DD at Disneyland. Way over priced, too and I'm not impressed with the decor. If I were you (and really wanted to go), take the coupon, present to your server at the start and see what they say. If they want the card, just walk out.

I thought about doing that, but it would waste too much of our "Disney" time if we had to leave and go somewhere else. I did call direct to the restaurant, and they said they will not honor it without the card.

I would call back & ask for a manager. They obviously have record of you joining if the person you spoke to could tell you they mailed you a card 4 & 1/2 years ago! Claim you lost the card & see if there's anything they can do to help you.

It's in the application and on the website, that if you lose your card, you must pay to replace it. I would just join again, and then you'll get another new coupon when you join, so it will basically be free.

Calling the Safari office is useless - they have one agent who is absolutely rude and ignorant each time I've spoken to her, so this might be the one you spoke to? She is actually a supervisor, so asking to speak to a supervisor does no good - it's a very small office. I emailed Landry's Corporate, and didn't hear anything back from them either, so honestly, you aren't going to get anywhere with it. It's a very small staffed office, and there isn't much to do in this regard.

At any rate, you can use coupons past expiry dates, so that's cool, and you can use email coupons at the same time as your Safari discount, as we've done it many times as many different RFC locations. But, you must always show your Safari Card - if not, people would just copy email coupons and pass them around, and that wouldn't be fair to those of us who have paid for our memberships and use them correctly.

Sorry you got bad service, but you have no choice but to replace card, or join again. Whether you lost the card, or, it got stolen, is of no consequence. They have a replacement card policy, and they stick to it.

I agree. The one in Seattle has really awful food too. Even my daughter told me she didn't want to go back.

For those of you that have it.... we bought one on our last trip. We do not live close to one so I can't use it before my year is up. Will they really cancel my membership?

It is a lifetime membership - not just one year.

You have to use your card at the restaurant or store within a 12 month period, or it can be cancelled. They usually give a grace period of 18 months or so though, so it's usually not cancelled right at 12 months, but it can be.

So, even though you get a lifetime membership, you must use the card at least 1x each year in order to keep it active.

Thank you!! My one year is up in May but I won't be near one until July.
