Why does Disney make this so hard?

I want to add a day. I could cancel and rebook my entire trip. MDE doesn't let me modify the dates and I have to call. I don't want want to cancel and rebook my trip. That's just annoying with shuffling money..

So now I'm on hold.... and I gotta work in a bit so might have to hang up.

just annoying! This is deff why we started using a TA but this being a solo trip I just did it myself.. gah..

Disney you are making it hard for me to give you more money.

I just added a day to my December trip in MDE yesterday. I wonder why it isn't letting you. Unless there is no availability🤷‍♀️

I had to do the same for my December trip. We had a week planned, but because of some very favorable air fares, we wanted to move our arrival up by two days and knock two days off the end. For whatever reason, MDE wouldn't let me change anything either, and I hate being on hold for hours. So I called one evening at 10:50 P.M., and I got right through to a CM. They may only take calls til 11 PM. I think that might be a good tip - call just before they stop taking calls and the wait is short to non-existent.

good tip. May do that tonight. I keep going back and forth on adding the day...

Frustrating indeed - we just needed to change to start reservation one day later but couldn't do it on line. When I called it said 25 minute wait, but I also had option to leave my number for a call back which I did. I was called back about 30 minutes later and then spent 45 minutes on phone with them as they changed my reservation by 1 day - really!!?

Per CM yesterday when I called, Disney is requiring 2 nite stay thru 12/5, so unless there is availability at your resort to add the day to your existing reservation, you can not add a day at another resort without rebooking everything.

Have generally found that any changes to online reservations need to be handled with an actual Live Cast member over the Phone. if you don't want to cancel and rebook entire trip !

We did this on our last trip when we happened to snag Free Dining but realized the resort we got would not be the best fit for our family. Thankfully the cast member we spoke with was able to switch the reservation to resort of choice ( that also qualified for Free Dining ! ) without us having to lose our reservation ( and deposit ) all together ! So it does pay to talk to someone , even if you have to wait.

How about the opposite - dropping a night from your reservation? I want to book my short trip for Aug. '22 at the Poly asap before they are booked, but the calendar for my 21-22 school year hasn't been released yet. There's a chance I'd have to drop a night, depending on when school starts. Is that possible or do you have to make a whole new reservation? If they are sold out, I'd still be out of luck if I had to cancel and rebook. I'd be going from 3 nights to 2.

You can deff change it and drop later. You just may have to call.

Not definitely. They used to do this no questions asked. But the last several years, they won’t always do it. There still has to be availability just as if you are making a whole new reservation. They use an algorithm now to prevent individual rooms being left unbooked & maximize occupancy. You can ask, but you might be refused. Sometimes the regular CMs can’t make the change but they get guest services involved who can. But even guest services has sometimes refused the change.

Another option might be to book 2 separate reservations now if it will let you … 2 nights & 1 night. That’s if it lets you make a 1 night reservation. Then you can just cancel the one night if you need to. Make sure they are the same category room. It will involve paying 2 deposits now. Posters have reported being able to call later & get the 2 reservations combined into one later.

I had to make a change last week (same issue, couldn't do it online for some reason) - the call back option in the system worked well for me. I even missed the first call back, and they called me back a second time.

I'd make a 2 night reservation and a 3 night reservation and then cancel the one you don't need. You would need 2 deposits.

Great idea, thank you so much!
