Vendor Meal?

Hi everyone!! So I am really wondering what "vendor meal" really means... I know it's meant for your vendors obviously, and it's less expensive, but what else is different?
All the weddings I have been to and I haven't paid attention to where the vendors go during the meal. I assume we will seat them and they will have the same meal everyone else does, am I wrong? What makes the vendor meal so much less??

TIA! :goodvibes

The vendor meal is something totally different then what you and your guests are eating. Not sure the quality or anything.

But I plan on letting our photographers and videographers eat the same plated meal (which will cost the same as the regular guest plate).

They usually set up a table seperatly for the vendors to eat on. I will also have my vendors sitting at the guest/regular tables. But this is only because they are more than just vendors to me we've gotten to be great friends.

If I wasn't so close to them I wouldn't spend the extra money for a plated guest meal.

Hope I helped you out!

I have heard the vendor meals can be anything from a sandwich to chicken fingers. I do not remember if we even ordered a vendor meal for our photographer and video guy. Check with your vendor, sometimes they do not want you to even order them a meal - they figure they will be busy during your event.

Hmm, thanks for your help ladies! I have tried asking my planner several times and she keeps telling me it's the same meal, which is why I don't get why such the price difference then. It's in our photographers contract that they get the same meal as our guests, and we really adore them so I want them treated well. She also told us we could set up a buffet for them so they could come over and get what they want as they pleased throughout the reception, but I wasn't sure on that. I think we'll just seat them and get them regular plates and be done with it. :rolleyes1

Agreed! We are having three photographers and planned on ordering them the plated meals, but they requested that we not. They said that they wouldn't have time to sit and eat, so I am ordering them vendor meals instead.

Our planner told us it could be cheese and crackers, chicken fingers or a sandwich. Basically whatever the chef decides. We are going to give our photographers/videographer the regular buffet meal we are serving our guests especially since we are flying our photographer down.

We are paying for our vendors to eat the regular meal. I've heard it's often a deli plate and one of our photographers is a vegetarian. They actually put in their contract that we cannot serve them a "vendor meal."

We paid for Randy Chapman to eat at our wedding, but to be quite honest, I don't think he ate anything - at least that I saw! He was so busy taking many amazing photos! I would definitely recommend paying for it though, so at least if they want something quick to eat, it is available for them.

Thanks everyone! I'm so glad I asked here, if I had just gone with my planner and got them the vendor meal thinking it was the same thing, I'd of been mortified at the reception. I'll definitely order them the reg meal! :goodvibes
