We are going in April and will ride Velocicoaster for the first time. My youngest is obsessed with it (watches all the Youtube videos, etc.) but unless he has a quick growth spurt, looks like he is going to be about an inch short on the height requirement.

He says he's ok not riding, he mainly just wants to experience the line. Will they let him in the line to wait with us until it's time to get on the actual ride? I remember Mummy and one of the Harry Potter rides had a room they could go to in the past at the last second to wait instead of getting on the ride. My wife is fine not riding and can wait with him once they get out of line.

Yes, you can use the child swap room.

Make sure you take the time to see the dinos that are close to you in line. Their heads and eyes are watching. They breath and snort on you and my 7yo grandson thought that was the coolest thing ever. He was way too small to ride but LOVED the line and the child swap plays the cartoon version of Jurrasic Park and I personally never saw an upset kid in there.

You can also ask for a Paddock tour. It is a short personal tour of the line - and if you are really lucky they can take you behind the scenes to see the control room and a couple of other areas that the public isn't usually allowed. The tours aren't guaranteed (they have to have extra staff to do them) and what you get to see depends on the person giving the tour. The first time that I did it, the TM was exceptional and we got to see a couple different behind the scenes areas. The second time, it was a quicker/less informative tour. It depends on the TM giving the tour and, I think, your enthusiasm level and willingness to ask questions.

You can ask one of the TMs at the start of the line if a tour is available.
