Which do you prefer?

For me it depends on the veggie:

corn and peas - frozen
green beans - canned
cauliflower, brocolli, carrots - neither, definately prefer fresh

Actually, this question may be too broad. I guess MOST of us would prefer that our veggies be fresh, but when choosing between canned or frozen, what would you pick? And are there those that you would not eat UNLESS they were fresh?

Corn fresh or frozen
Peas frozen
carrots fresh and uncooked only

I always buy frozen or fresh..usually frozen. The only thing I buy canned is cranberry sauce and beets. I would never buy frozen corn on the cob...that has to be fresh!

Choosing between canned and frozen, I would choose frozen. There are some veggies that I think are actually pretty good frozen, like broccoli, but then there's others that I think the fresh are just *so* much better than the frozen (like beans... which are sooo much better fresh :) ).

Fresh or frozen. To tell the truth, probably more frozen than fresh. They're so easy, and I don't have to try to remember which ones are in season and which ones were forced to mature with chemicals.

I grew up on canned veggies and used to hate the taste of frozen veggies, but I made myself eat them because of the nutrient profiles. Now I can't stand any canned veggies, except for green beans.

But prefer corn, and green beans ina can unless I have them fresh.

I always choose fresh first, then frozen, and canned last. I do keep frozen on hand, as well as a can or two of veggies... mainly as an emergency supply in case I run out of fresh veggies. The canning process makes most veggies mushy and zaps most of the nutrients out. Fresh is best. :)

Fresh, but I actually like canned green beans and beets! They are the only canned vegies I buy. Well, we buy la case of canned vegies every winter, just incase there's a storm and we can't get out for a few day. Other than that, we only buy fresh. I think there are 2 bags of frozen vegies in the freezer that have been there since last winter!  :p

I would choose frozen but we grow our own. The only veggie I ever buy frozen is broccoli.

I prefer mine covered with chocolate..;)

I wouldn't cover them with chocolate...

Never canned I find them to taste like the can they came out of.

Never frozen tasteless waterlogged mush.

Seasonal and fresh, barely cooked.

I don't know if this is true or not, but I was told that canned vegetables lose their nutrients, where frozen can be just as good (nutritious-wise) as fresh.

I prefer frozen over fresh or canned, just because it might be awhile before anyone in my household will eat veggies. Fresh veggies always spoil too quick on me!!

Mamu, I always steam the frozen veggies, so as not to be too soggy or mushy. They always come out great!

Fresh only. Frozen for certain veggies I can't get fresh.... like lima beans which are rarely at my market .
