I know a few months ago that the Rose and Crown had a vegetarian shepherds pie on their menu, but now all I see is a curry dish. Does anyone know if this is gone or not? Thanks
Well, first they had a vegetable curry dish, then they switched to the shepard's pie. I don't know where you're looking that says they now are serving the curry, but I would sure be delighted if they did change back to the curry as I thought it was so much better than the pie we had in June!
All the menus I can find have it listed as vegtable curry. Allears and so forth. Darn, I don't think I will like curry. I hate anything even a little spicy. Oh well!

Check again, Graciesmom. The 2008 dinner menu at All Ears says curry, but the more recent lunch menu says Shepard's pie. We were there for dinner in June and all they had was the pie.
We ate there last week and DH had the shepherd's pie. It wasn't vegetarian...had a hamburger/tomato base topped with mashed potatoes. He usually loves shepherd's pie but said that one was just so-so. He didn't even eat it all. Tried it a few days later at Raglan Road and it was the very same pie. I guess they are all ordering it from the same supplier.
To me, it tasted like leftover mixed vegetables in a mild sauce, topped with potatoes that taste like the garlic mashed potatoes you buy in the dairy section of your supermarket. Next to it was a cooked Portabella mushroom that was topped by salad greens tossed in a vinegrette.

Oh! And there was raw spinach in the mixed vegetables. I really didn't like it because it made me think of cheapo leftovers.
We ordered this is June and it was very good! It is a creamy mushroom-vegetable ragout topped with mashed potatoes and cheddar cheese served with mixed greens and roasted portobello mushroom. It is still showing on the allears menu for lunch.
