Vegetation at BCV

For those of you that have already stayed at BCV, I am wondering what you think about the vegetation that grows on the trees between the back of the building and EPCOT. We were in room 549 and the room faced the Swan and Dolphin and saw Tower of Terror in the distance, and what we saw right outside our room was kind of jungle like, I thought. It reminded me of kudzu. While the grounds are landscaped nicely up to the sidewalk, I think there is a lot they could do with that area that seems like jungle that would improve the appearance of the area. Probably a lot of reasons as to why it was left that way, but it isn't very attractive.

Wouldn't a walkway with a little bridge over to the International Gateway turnstiles from that end of the building be nice?

Some kudzu and some spanish moss. I didn't pay a lot of attention when we went to the model unit, but it seemed to me that the land between epcot and bwv was "wet" - I think there was some standing water in there. But then, there had been a lot of rain that weekend so it may just have been puddles. You know, I guess it probably was. What I thought about it was that it probably did a good job blocking view of some of the epcot back stage areas, which probably aren't all that attractive.

Also, it looked a lot like "Florida" to me. I live in Michigan now, but I grew up in western central florida, and so one of the things I like about going to walt disney world is that it feels like "coming home" in terms of the types of vegitation. But then, I also feel like the area around wilderness lodge feels MOST like Florida, but I know from reading these boards that a lot of people don't see it that way. To me, Florida isn't just palm trees, palmetto and saw grass, but it is also memosa and cedar trees (for example, those aren't pine trees between bay lake and the wilderness lodge, they are cedar, and they are a type of cedar that grows really, really slowly - they probably started growing before any European ever saw them. To me, that is very much "Florida," as is that area between BCV and epcot).

It doesn't look as manicured as a lot of areas of walt disney world, but I kind of like it. It looks very natural and Florida to me.

The "jungle" is a continuation of the area between BC and Epcot. That area has been left au natural to help hide the backstage areas of Epcot on the other side of the road and the roadway itself and, as mentioned above, is very Florida!

There is already a sidewalk that travels to the Gateway bridge behind that side of BC. A footbridge would have to cross over the roadway and is probably not a likely addition, since there is already access to that Epcot entrance.

Doc, I actually walked that sidewalk since our room was the next to last one on that wing, and I went down the stairwell and out that back door. I was a touch leary as to what might crawl out of there and come after me, especially in the evenings. I do think that there could have been landscaping that would have blocked the back of the buildings but made for a more attractive view from the rooms. However, we all know you can't please everyone.

Can't help but wish for the additional bridge, although I felt if it were to be, it would have been completed along with the building.

I acutally had a nice talk today for about an hour with a Manager here. While we were talking, I did ask him about the "Jungle" since I really hate it and wish they would clean it up a bit and trim it up a bit. He said it is a "wetland" and legally they are not allowed to touch it, they don't like it either and wish they could clean it up.
