Vegetarians/Vegans: Ever Eaten At Boma?

I hear Boma is very veggie-friendly. Is this just lacto-ovo veggies or vegans as well? Please tell me all you can.

There always seems to be plenty for vegans, as well: hummus, coconut tofu and green beans, rice pilaf, couscous, spicy potatoes, cornmeal mush with a chunky tomato sauce, there was a corn and blackbean salad on Saturday, many other fruit/veggie salads, a fresh fruit section and a mixed greens / salad dressings section.

I'm not veggie but I'm pretty familiar with the veggie selections, since I tend to eat more veggie than meat.

Hi
We are family of 4 vegetarians(lacto/ovo), we had both dinner and breakfast at Boma and loved it! There were quite a few options for dairy and egg but to be honest I wasn't looking for anything vegan.
Wonderful pitas and hummus, falafels, another dish similar to African potatoes(?)
One of my alltime favourites for both meals and worth every cent!
good luck
Kristin

I have good and 'eh' days there. They do change out items, so it sometimes depends on day of week as to the veggie selection. There are always some staples, though.

My favourite is the white bean hummus - you can now buy all 3 types at the Mara - my suggestion, which they actually heard!!!

Note that some of the veggies are 'hiding' on the meat carving station - I couldn't find them until one of my fellow diners went for roast beef and discovered them.

This is probably the most vegan friendly restaurant in WDW...
Great food!

In addition to what everyone else has already mentioned, there is also a vegetarian soup offered at dinner. They usually have 3 or 4 soups and unfortunately I don't think the vegetarian one is marked as such. You'll have to ask someone behind the counter which one it is. Don't know if it's vegan, though.

I have heard that the chefs there are very accommodating. If you mention to your server you are vegetarian/vegan they can arrange to have one of the chefs walk you through the buffet to discuss which dishes are OK for you. I've also heard of them whipping up something special back in the kitchen for guests with special dietary needs.

I'm vegan, but I've never eaten there. I looked over the buffet once but didn't see much I could eat. I did not speak to a chef to make sure. I ended up eating at Jiko instead. However, when I stayed at AKL last year, we ordered room service at one point, and I asked the order taker about vegan items. At that time of night, there wasn't much, so the chef got on the phone with me. He said he was the Boma chef and could make something special for me. It was a big platter of different items. Sorry, I don't remember exactly what was on it, but it was very flavorful. I believe this platter was what he usually made for vegan Boma guests who could not find enough to eat from the buffet.
