Vegetarians do not live on salads alone!

I wish the carnivores out there would get that. Salads do not fill me up, they are a wonderful appetizer BEFORE a meal. If I had a dollar for every time someone suggested a salad for a meal...

Well, let's just say I would buy WDW.

I feel your pain. As a former Atkins dieter, I got really sick of people saying, 'But what about all that fat you're eating?" Like being on a low-carb diet means I'm eating bowls of lard for dinner.

Well I'm a vegetarian and I love salads for meals. But not a wimpy salad of plain lettuce. I love salads with chickpeas and other beans, nuts and full of veggies. Yummy! I think they're a lot more filling with a protein item thrown in.

I'm not too impressed with WDW's selection for vegetarians.

You should start charging for whenever someone says that! :rotfl:

I know that vegetarians don't only eat salads. Where I live, Portland, Oregon...most people are vegetarians and I don't even think they really eat salad... :p

I love salad (total carnivore here -- not sure I could survive on a vegetarian diet!), but it annoys me to no end when some really skinny girl tells me, "Oh, I had a salad for lunch and now I'm sooooo stuffed."

Me, I could eat a 55-gallon drum of salad and be hungry in 10 minutes. Also, for some reason, salad from a salad bar always tastes better to me than salad I make at home.

My 9yo is a vegetarian and he doesn't eat "salads." We mix veggies sometimes but he eats loads of soy and nuts and other beans and cheese(rennet free) and eggs and...

:rotfl: That is so true for me too.

Salad bars are sitting on ice. There is alot of condensation which makes the greens slightly wet, which makes them crisper (if that is a word). ::yes::

But your salads have lots of "filler" stuff in it, like beans, and that certainly helps. Still, don't know what it is, but I cannot fill up on just cold meals. I have to eat something warm in order to feel full. Weird. :confused3

I wasn't that impressed with WDW's vegetarian options, either. I have a whole trip report full of vegetarian woes.

I love it when this is suggested to me! It shows just how naïve the speaker is :rotfl:

What's better is when they proclaim that they'd NEVER eat what a veggie does. OK, I say, then that's no cake, ice cream, chocs, pasta, rice, pizza, bread...

Is it on the trip report board? I think I'll go check it out - I need ideas for next trip - it felt like I was eating the same thing over and over.

Thanks to Loubon and Bengalbelle, my trip reports from last year have been resurrected. I do complain a lot about my lack of vegetarian options. I also talk about some veggie highlights. However there's a bit of sarcasm to weed through in order to find any information. ;)

I have to admit I was pretty naive too, before my vegetarian days. But now that I am one, I expect everyone else to know better.

Okay, I'll bite. As a vegetarian, you just don't eat meat. Correct? Doesn't mean that you eat just lettuce and vegetables.

And what's a vegan? Just a stricter form of vegetarian?

I THINK a vegan is you don't eat any animal by-products (Milk, eggs). But I might have those backwards.

A vegetarian diet is one which excludes animal flesh but may include eggs and dairy products.

Thanks. I could probably survive as a vegetarian, but there's no way I could be a vegan.

And a fruitarian "is a person who eats fruit and only fruit. What we in FUN mean by fruit is all the sweet fruits such as mangos, bananas, melons, oranges, etc., all kinds of berries, and the vegetable fruits such as tomato, cucumber, olives, etc."

How rare.
