I read the following from an older thread and I wanted to see if anyone else was able to make this request at Ohana, and if it is possible to call ahead and make a similar request at other restaurants.
Thanks!

One more question- if I'm the only person in my party of 7 who is a veg, will they give me some veg food and allow the rest of the party to eat the regular meal?

Sounds perfect!!
Whenever I've eaten at Ohana, I always call the restaurant directly, just a couple days before the ADR. While I've never been served by Chef TJ (before he left), I've always had fantastic meals.

The last I was there, I was served pita chips with some tasty baba ganoush and hummus as an appetizer. The entree was similar to meals I've seen by Chef TJ - tofu, veggies, and tempura veggies over rice with some sort of sauce. I forget exactly what the sauce was like, it wasn't really spicy but still very flavorful. There is nothing I didn't like about the dish - everything was flavorful, all the ingredients cooked well (particularly the tofu), and the portion was generous.

Of course, this is in addition to the salad, noodles, broccoli, and bread pudding that's served to the table. The veggie option may vary slightly depending on the chef and the night, but you certainly will not go hungry. Enjoy!

I have it noted on my ADRs when I make them that 1 person is a vegetarian. Disney is really, really accommodating. There is a vegetarian dish on all the menus, San Angel has its own vegetarian menu.

The only place I ever ran into being stuck with a Salad was at Le Cellier. The vegetarian item was a mushroom ravioli and I am allergic to mushrooms. I didnt go hungry but I was hoping for something more than lettuce. When the vegetarian item at Coral Reef was mushroom based a chef whipped me up the most delicious tempah meal, so, so good!

Good to know. I HATE mushrooms I cannot even stand the sight of them in my food, so hopefully I'll be able to avoid them and still get some good meals. Where did you note it on the ADR? I saw the allergy section, but I didn't see anything for veggies.

Hmmmm. I think I checked the other under allergies the 1 time I did it online last December.

99% of the time I call in my dining reservations and have it noted that way. Or you can make them online and call Disney dining asking them to note it under your name.

We had a vegetarian with us on one of our visits to the Hoop de Doo. We noted it on the ADR and when we were seated, she was offered two choices - one was pasta with marinara and I forget what the other one was. She had the pasta and said it was quite good.

At other restaurants, she was happy with the vegetarian choice on the menu.

My family of four vegetarians had a wonderful meal at 'Ohana in early September.

They started us off with the standard bread, salad, and lo mein. Then they brought an enormous platter with a veggie stir fry topped with grilled tofu and a lot of rice. The server brought out the three sauces and we tried them over the lo mein and stir fry.

The kids wanted plain white rice too and were accommodated. We also asked for more grilled tofu and they were happy to oblige.

It was a tremendous meal. My whole family was happy and we strolled around the Poly afterwards. It really is a beautiful resort.

I called wdw-dine a couple weeks before arrival and just had it noted that we were vegetarian.

Hope that's helpful.

That would be an ideal meal for me. Thanks! We're staying at the Poly! Can't wait!! 43 more days!

I wonder if it would be ok for them to serve me that meal while also giving the other 3 adults the meal including meat. Obviously I can't eat the meat, but I wouldn't want the rest of my party to miss out.

ETA I called the reservations line and was told that if I speak to the chef he/she will be able to prepare vegetarian food for me and the rest of my party can have to traditional meal. :)

A bit more anecdotal evidence for you --

My party ate at the Poly in July. I am veg with a couple of weird allergies (mushrooms most notably,) and another member of the party has several allergies, so we did the chef at the table routine. There were four of us total, and the other three are most definitely meat-eaters.

They brought out all of the "standard" fare, and our server patiently noted what was and was not okay for those of us with dietary restrictions. After the meat came around, they brought me a stir-fry type dish. I ate some and it was fine, but honestly, there was so much other food I would not have missed it if it hadn't been brought out. The broccoli was amazing, and I don't really like broccoli! (Never, ever thought I'd use the adjective "amazing" to describe it.) Of course, YMMV. I also have a major weakness for bread and ate a good amount of it, so that may have helped my full-ness, lol.

There was no fuss about me being veg and nobody acted like it was a big deal. There was a running joke with the server about us being a PITA table, but that was as much our doing as his. (We are by nature very chill, easy-going people, but between my veg and the allergies -- plus a very picky eater -- we become high maintenance. I deal with this by apologizing out of the gate and trying to maintain good humor about the whole thing.)

This sounds like us exactly. I am a "picky" vegetarian (also no 'shrooms), but always try to be gracious about it. I don't mean to be or want to be high maintenance, but it often ends up that way. Yes, a little humor goes a long way.
