Vegetarian menu at La Hacienda?

Anyone tried this as a vegetarian? Not interested in a salad.

At first, I thought you had asked about San Angel Inn. But, then I realized you wanted La Hacienda. Here is a link to a menu:

It has empanadas, tacos, a salad, and enchiladas. I have not tried it yet.

I really hate that neither San Angel Inn nor Hacienda de San Angel posts their vegetarian menu WITH their actual menu!! My family skipped the entire Mexico pavilion for years because of this.

Exactly! Most places have at least one veggie option on menu (that isn't a salad), but none of the Mexican places do. And San Angel Inn's meal I had from their vegetarian menu was one of the best I had all trip!

I just looked at that menu, and I'm confused. "Rice is not vegan?"

What do they do to the rice to make it not vegan, but still vegetarian? Cook it in milk?

Maybe they cook it with butter.

I think chicken broth maybe? I'm not sure.

If it's cooked in chicken broth, it isn't vegetarian or vegan.

They probably put butter in the rice. If it was chicken broth they couldn't list it as vegetarian

Aaah, I don't know why I didn't think of butter! Duh! probably just because I don't personally use butter when cooking rice for myself. Anyhow, it all sounds delicious, and I think it has to be a priority on my next trip!
