Vegetarian Meals & Foods

What about trying a buffet restaurant like the Lucky Nugget Saloon? I can't say for certain as I haven't eaten there, but presumably you can select only the food items that are suitable for you? Also, maybe you would be able to go in and have a look at the selection first before you decide (in case it is all meat & cheese!).

Yeh that is a good idea however you would totally have to stick to the salad and the fruit and you might aswell just to the supermarket and buy same for a fraction of cost.We not really big eaters specially in Summer,I would doubt we would get moneys worth.Children on holiday don't care much for food, they probably want to have a few mouthfuls and want to get on with other things.

Yeh call me fussy!

You can always order things without cheese..

I can't eat cheese so I will be doing this when I go.... And most table service restaurants should be happy to help... I havn't been in a bit (when I did last go I was a teenage veggie and ate fine=) ), but from what i have heard from others they are quite reasonable and will do this for you...

If you ask about things.. then you should be fine, as parmasan is usually added at the end...

Anyway, I hope you have a good holiday!

I beg to differ. I had a very good meal at Auberge de Cendrillion. I think that it is important to remember that people are different, and just because you think that a buffet is not worth it, or a table service not worth it, others might. For many here, dining is a large part of the vacation experience.

I do that all the time, including at DLRP.

And damn 44€ is around £30 per person if you consider it for adult.

As I said earlier for some the dining experience is part of the holiday. I for one don't consider this expensive for those wanting a fine dining experience.:goodvibes

As you say if you bring your own food you will know where it came from :)

I said I doubt we would get our moneys worth,I didn't say other people wouldn't get their value.
I wouldn't want to eat in place with table service as my children are not really used to eating out in places that have table service. My son as aspergers or autism, they have not decided yet, thats another very long story,he almost 7 and they still don't know.
He does not know how to behave at times specially at place where people want to sit down and a full lengthy meal, there be nice music playing and there my eldest one wanting to go through peoples legs under the tables as its a game for him,he's totally unaware of what others may think or want as its all about it him.Its not the sort of environment I would take him into.I have had looks of disgust when taking him places before. For me if be just easier go in counter service get what you want ( like pizza with cheese on thats vegetarian ) pay and leave.I also got the issue of not only finding what is vegetarian but also the issue if he will eat it,he is very selective of food,if he does not like the look of something then he won't touch it.

the patisserie chain Paul has some excellent choices and has two locations in the Val d'Europe centre. They serve a wide range of baguettes (sandwiches) along with breads and sweet items

Auchan, Monoprix, and Franprix all do excellent takeaway items as well. I am certainly a walking advertisement that a veggie need not go hungry in France

I believe that there is also a Casino in Val d'Europe - they have a great selection as well.

here is a sample buffet with their salads, etc

Based on the information which you have here and on another website I happened to stumble across, I think that you have a very wide choice of types of restuarants (ie sit down or takeaway) and types of foods.

I have seen one of these here in Bluewater Shopping Mall,I will contact them, thanks.

I hesitate to bump up an old thread, but wanted to give any veggies out there an update.

I am pleased to say that in the 6 months since my last visit, many of the table service and counter service menus have been updated. As I posted elsewhere, France recently implemented new 'healthy food' laws, and DLRP was impacted.

Almost every counter service menu that I read last week was updated and included a veggie option. Many of the table service menus have also been reworked, and my suggestions taken ie at Silver Spur, the non-veggie caesar salad with anchovy is still on the Sheriff Menu, but the tomato and mozzarella salad is now also a choice.

There are still the confusing 'V' marked next to non-meat items, so ensure that your dish does not include fish. Ask for an English menu if required. (or other language)

I also spent quite a bit of time reading food labels this week, not just in Germany. I am able to eat a lot of foods in France and Germany which I cannot eat in North America. I don't know about UK food laws, but they allow a lot more additives in North America.

For example, I had a chocolate mousse pudding for dessert today which had milk, chocolate, and a vegetarian stabilizer. No additives, flavourings, preservatives, etc.

I can eat yoghurt in France and Germany, yet in America the yoghurt increases my pain from a chronic illness. In Germany, agar agar is often used as a vegetarian gelatin.

So veggies, take heart. My recommendations are still valid, and the situation has improved over the past six months!

Just been searching through the veggie-related threads, for upto date info.
We will be going to dlp next feb. Myself and my kids are veggie (dh eats meat) so it's good to hear that things are slowly improving on the veggie front.

We last went to dlp about 5 yrs ago and found the veggie options pretty limited. This time we have booked half board vouchers, so would be interested to know what veggie options are available at Plaza Gardens, Rendez-vous des stars and hotel Cheyenne.

I found most of my veggie questions answered by the restaurant threads and links to the menus found on there at the top of the discussion board. And then reading the reviews of those particular restaurants. You should find all your answers and even photo's there.
