Fiancé & I will be at DL in February with a 4 day park hopper. Well, he'll be husband by them. Both of us are vegetarians. We want to go to Blue Bayou, but doesn't look to veggie friendly. Also I looove a good cheese board & Riesling. Any suggestions? Anything from counter to table services will do. Oh, and we're staying on site if that makes a difference

I found this article helpful:
http://disneylandnews.com/2014/03/1...food-options-at-disneyland-resort-fact-sheet/

Ariel's Grotto will replace the regular breakfast sausage for veggie sausage.
The buffets always have a lot of options and the chef will give you a tour of what you can and cannot eat.
If you are going to Knott's Berry Farm stop at the Pink's for a veggie dog, they are by far the best I have ever tasted.
I am unsure if The Blue Bayou will make a substitute veggie option for you, but every Disneyland restaurant we have been to has been very accommodating. I am also hoping for another option as I have a reservation in December, if not I guess I can order the mac & cheese from the kids menu.

My daughter and I have been eating veggie at Disney for many years and we have never gone hungry.
Good luck and have fun.

Thank you so much!! Especially about Pinks! I love a good veggie dog!

We just got back from our Disney trip :cheer2:

My daughter is vegetarian and there were several good options. Her two favorites were the fried green tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear in Disneyland and a portabella mushroom burger at Carthay Circle. We did the World of Color lunch and the chef substituted the portabella for the angus burger and it was Ah-mazing! They also offered to do a veggie tower for her as a substitute on the menu.

As a side, we really enjoyed our lunch at Carthay for WoC and thought it was both better priced ($39 for 3 courses - starter, main, dessert - including tea/coffee per person) and much better tasting than Blue Bayou.

Disneyland:
**Hungry Bear: fried green tomato sandwich with sweet potato fries
**Harbour Galley: variety of soups in Sourdough bowl

DCA:
**Pacific Wharf: variety of soups in Sourdough bread bowls
**Wine Country Trattoria: salads, bruschetta, pasta
**Alfresco Tasting Terrace: wine flights, flatbread, bruschetta

Grand Californian Hotel:
**Hearthstone Lounge: artisan cheese selection, flatbread, bruschetta

Last time I checked the broccoli and cheese soup is made with chicken stock. I'm not sure if the new beer and cheese soup is vegetarian, but Harbour Galley currently has nothing vegetarian on their menu.

When I was there last,, April this year.. I had the vegie dish from Flo's, in Carsland.. it was not the best I have had, but ok

I've been told by several reliable sources that the Vegan Burger at Carnation is VERY good.

If you do cheese, the 3 cheese monte cristo has said to be good at Cafe Orleans.

Big Thunder Ranch has a vegetarian meal. My son usually orders it and then also eats the ribs and chicken. (And I love the beans!)

My nieces love the Vegetarian Gumbo at the Royal STreet Veranda.

The veggie tater bake. I would go past not the best and call it awful. I usually get 2-3 sides at Flo's instead of a meal.

OP, almost every CS at DLR has a vegetarian item, just read the menus on the DL site. Also, many can have items left off to be made vegetarian. Just ask before ordering.

If you note on your reservation that you both are vegetarian, Napa Rose should be able to accomodate you very well. Also, they have a very nice cheese board and a great wine selection.

Harbour galley menu on Disneyland website says seasonal soup so that could be minestrone or some type of veggie soup. It also has a baked potato that you could order without the bacon.

Oh I am right there with you. We had a budget trip, I mean barebones trip, and DS and I had that for dinner, and it was painful to choke it down. Long long lines and nothing else there to get if they would accept a "return", so we did it, but it was horrid. No amount of mustard could make it better...

Blue Bayou has a portabello dish, yes?

Hungry Bear's sandwich...mmmmm.

OP, worth knowing to avoid the cupcakes. Please ask to look at the ingredients binder if you really want one, and PLEASE update if it has changed, but when I've checked it out, they use gelatin in the frosting. :(

And always check to make sure a soup is vegetarian.

Gelatin comes from beef (and not the way milk does). A lot of vegetarians don't bother asking and a lot of restaurants are not always good at knowing unless you specifically ask them to check. Similarly with animal rennet in cheese. I have also been served oyster sauce on a veggie menu and it wasn't the fake stuff made from mushrooms either. All depends on how strict you are and how good the restaurant is.

Wow!! Thanks for all the replies!!! I know I never have an issue at WDW, and figured I wouldn't at DL, but I like to know in advance instead of fretting over it while I'm there. Plus, I just love food. I like knowing I have other options than the standard salad & baked potato.

The veggie gumbo sounds awesome! I think that may be a must try. Also Napa Rose. I loooove a good cheese board. I sometimes get that as my meal.

As far as the cupcakes go, I'm not a huge cupcake eater. I'll sometimes get sweets, but most times rather go with something salty. However, future DH could live off of sweets so I'll check out and report back if I can remember. I will admit though, I do have gelatin, but only in the form of my Flintstone vitamin every morning. I know I can find other vitamins that doesn't have it in there, but after an allergic reaction when trying to switch one time, I don't stray away from the Flintstones w/ Iron vitamins.

Another question....I usually stick with wine when I do drink, but I do love margaritas, too. Any suggestions there? I'm thinking Trader Sams might be my best option.

And seriously, thanks again for all the replies!!

Any bar should be be able to make a margarita on the rocks. Are you looking for something that's more like a slushie? There's a margarita stand in the Pacific Wharf dining area.

Hearthstone Lounge, Carthay Circle Lounge, Tortilla Jos, Steakhouse 55 Lounge are just a few I can think of quickly.

On the rocks. Not a fan of the slushie stuff. Thank you!

Thanks! I've read a lot of good things about the Carthay Circle place so may need to check the margarita out there too.

Blue Bayou has been very accommodating to me in the past. They have made an alternative veggie pasta dish or adult sized mac & cheese for me. On one occasion, I was able to get the cheese Monte Cristo, though it's technically only available at Cafe Orleans.

The Vegan Burger at Carnation cafe is probably the best vegan/veggie option in the park, at least to my taste, but I do love the tomato sandwich at Hungry Bear (I've been told the remoulade has fish in it, but I don't know if that has changed.).

Napa Rose has an amazing cheese plate! Also for the cheese lover is the "Cheese Dog" at the Corn Dog Castle. It's just a hunk of cheese battered and deep fried. Yum.

Unfortunately, it looks like Pink's is no longer at Knott's http://www.ocregister.com/articles/knott-636737-playground-sandwiches.html

They do have several vegan options in the park, like fried faux chicken nuggets at Knotts.
