We are trying to change our lunch reservation for San Angel Inn to another ts at Epcot. I think the kids would enjoy the character dining, but my son is super picky with some sensory issues and I am a vegetarian. How is the food served here? Is any of the food touching? Do they something different for vegetarians or would it be just sides?
Thanks!!!

You can request a vegetarian meal. If you do get the meats, if I remember correctly they are served on one platter but all sides come in their own serving dishes.
It's served family style so you don't have to get up and down like at a buffet. The turning is extremely slow and the character interaction here is very good and as high or low key as you would like.

If food touching is an issue, ask the server to have the meats plated individually.

If your son needs no food touching, they would be happy to accommodate you, just make sure you tell your host when you're seated that you have special requirements. Also, you may be able to add the special request of vegetarian to your meal in advance, if you call the dining number.

We had an extremely picky eater friend of my DD on a recent trip (free dining) and she wouldn't eat anything on the platter at Garden Grille. They went down to Sunshine Seasons and brought her a pile of uncrustables on a lovely plate.

Thanks everyone! I didn’t realize the restaurants rotates. I will double check that it is on with them. Thank you for letting me know all the accommodations. It sounds like it could work.

They will definitely plate differently to meet your needs. We had breakfast at GG and asked that the meats be served on a separate dish. Done without question and served with a smile :-)

It is so slow that you literally may not notice it unless you look up. It does this so you can overlook scenes from The Land ride in the pavillion.

The vegetarian meal is (or was, in 2016) polenta with grilled portobello mushrooms, zucchini, and eggplant. It's very good :)

We went last year and I simply told the server that I was vegetarian and she said she'd bring me a separate vegetarian meal. I also asked for no dressing on my salad and she brought me my own bowl of that as well. Everyone else in the family eats meat (and dressing) so they were served all of the normal stuff.

I was brought a huge platter all for me with a veggie loaf (looked like a meatloaf comprised of veggies and stuffing with a tomato glaze on top), mashed potatoes, veggies, fries, and there may have been rice as well. I also had my own bowl of salad as requested, the shared platter of dinner rolls, a shared bowl of Mac and cheese topped with goldfish crackers, and the standard berry something dessert.

I thought the veggie loaf was absolutely delicious. Everything else on the platter was fairly standard, but still good comfort food, and it was really appreciated that it was brought on it's own platter, separate from the meats. I was told just like the rest of the table that if I wanted more of anything to just ask, but the platter was so huge it wasn't necessary.

For the regular platter, the meats, mashed potatoes, veggies, and stuffing all came out on the same platter and everything was touching. The fries, Mac and cheese, rolls, salad, and of course dessert all came in their own separate bowls/plates. They did ask if the kids were okay with the foods touching before bringing the platter out, which was a nice touch, though my kids don't mind so we told them it was fine. If they don't ask, I'm sure you can request to have things brought out either on separate plates or not touching. The server also discreetly asked if we would like some plain chicken legs made for the kids, but we declined.

Overall, the restaurant seemed so accommodating, the food was great, and we had- by far- the BEST character interactions ever.
