Hi,

I'm planning a Vegas trip in July, probably the 2nd week. I would appreciate any suggestions on where to stay, what to do (besides gambling and visiting Hoover Dam, since I plan to do both) and any tips on obtaining great deals.

Thanks.

Just got back from Vegas literally. My plane arrived after midnight this morning. I had a thread going about Las Vegas on the CB so maybe you can look for it and look at the other suggestions people gave me.

You must go to Margaritaville, it is so cool but expensive. It is located in the Flamingo. I would recommend staying somewhere in the middle of the strip. My favorite hotel was the Venetian, I would love to stay there. Also it is going to be very hot in July so you should go to Wet and Wild (water park) or the water park at Mandalay Bay.

There is just so much stuff to do there. Spend time going through all the hotels on the strip and if you drink, get the 48 oz margarita from Slots of Fun!!

Where to stay: I personally have stayed in the New York New York which I loved and The Venetian (where we were upgraded to a high roller suite!) definately recommend that hotel!!

What to do: Visit all the hotels on the strip,(the gambling cups make great souvineers), look at the shops in the hotels, things to do in the hotel e.g. the gondolas in the Venetian, rain storm in the Aladdin mall, the bellagio fountains, view from the Stratosphere, Treasure island pirate battle etc.
Helicopter flight to the Grand Canyon
If you like roller coasters: The mahatten express at NYNY, Speed at the Sahara and the ones at the top of the Stratosphere.
For something different: Indoor skydiving (just off the strip oposite Circus Circus.)
The shows are great too, we saw quite a few: Cirque du Soil, review shows etc.

Not sure about great deals, it depends on what type of hotel you want to stay in. I would really recommend one on the strip. Next time we go I plan to stay in Bellagios so I would recommend that too. However Bellagios and the Venetian are very expensive!!

2nd week in July??? Whatever you do, make sure it is in the A/C!!!!! :firefight

If you're looking for more reasonable accommodations, but on-strip, try Paris or Aladdin. They're right across the strip from Bellagio, plus the new monorail has a station at Paris

If you have the $$ and the time, see Blue Man Group. Seriously, it's amazing and awesome

If you like food, any of the restaurants at Mandalay Bay are very good. Boarder Grill is one of my favorites, great mexican food. It's right next to the big aquarium at MB, which is a fun way to spend 45 minutes. There's also a newer burger place there that I've heard is quite good. I also reccomend Delmonico's at the Venitian (an expensive steakhouse.)

Agree with all that way said! You should do a search, it wasn't too long ago when many people pitched in with ideas, as well.

We stayed at the Paris, which is right across the street from the Bellagio, and LOVED IT. Its a great location, and was inexpensive. We had a stay at Manadalay Bay and I would not recommend staying there at all.

You'll find plenty to do just be walking through teh resorts =)

We would sightsee during the day and only gamble at night. Vegas is much more fun at night with all the lights. It is just beautiful. Not to mention it cuts down on the losses! :)

We went to Lake Meade, Valley of Fire, and the Painted Desert. Take water with you (We did) there isn't any place to get it at the Valley of Fire or the Painted Desert. I think it was the Painted Desert where we walked to the "Mouse Trap". It's about a mile walk round trip. And you will need the water. We went in the heat of the summer too. But it was still fun. :) We also did some of the other things people mentioned.

One of the best vacations we have ever had was to fly into Reno and stayed a day or two there. Rented a car and drove to Vegas. We visited National parks along the way. It was a relaxing and fun trip. Spent some time touring Vegas and when it was time to return home, we flew out of Vegas.

We stayed at Circus Circus. It's a nice place. Love the mall and amusement park inside the Circus Circus. Plenty of places to eat too.

I will be in Vegas next week May 13-16. First time. Staying at Caesars.

Would it be better to see Celine or a Cirque show?

Has anyone been on the helicoptor tour of the Grand Canyon?
