Hi all!

We will be traveling in early June to the following destinations. Wondering if anyone can suggest the best routes we should take and any tips along the way (especially places to stop for a quick bite while driving or what to avoid). Please feel free to comment on any leg of the trip for which you may have tips.

-Las Vegas to Grand Canyon (South Rim) (leaving about 6 am on a Monday)

-Grand Canyon to Del Mar (Tuesday)*

-Del Mar to Disneyland (Thursday morning by 7am?)

*We originally planned on stopping for a night in Palm Springs on our way to Del Mar but if it is not a terrible drive, we would like to drive straight through to Del Mar.

Any suggestions?

Traveling from Del Mar to Anaheim during rush hour is going to be tough. The traffic on the 5 freeway is heavy in the morning. The 5 is the only way to get to DL from San Diego unless you get off the 5 in Dana Point and take the PCH. Problem with that is all the stop lights. Its a beautiful drive but very time consuming with lots of stop lights and the slow speed limits through all the OC beach towns.

My opinion from personal experience is that, while traffic on the 5 may be horrible, if it's moving even a little it will still be faster than PCH.

Just keep in mind that it is a 9-hour ride in the car from the Grand Canyon to Del Mar, according to Mapquest.

From Del Mar to Anaheim, taking I-5 is the most direct. If you want to get to Disneyland by 7am, probably leave Del Mar around 5am. Taking Hwy 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) would be very time consuming and you'd have to get back on I-5 at some point anyway.
