Dh and I are already planning our anniversary getaway for end of January. We were thinking maybe Vegas this go around? If not then its a cruise :cool1:

But going with the idea of a 4 night stay in Vegas what are some nice, romantic, couples sort of resorts? I was looking at the Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, and Venetian. What do you all think?

What shows, tours, outings are must do's while we are kid free and celebrating our marriage?

Out of those Mandalay Bay hos a huge 20 something crowd. Bellagio is hard to put into words, you either love it or you hate it. Their standard rooms are just oK with not much extra space. Of the three you picked I like ventian the best for location, regular room being super nice, dining and shopping being good. I just refuse to gamble there. We took the worst beating of our life there and didn't even get a keychain. Yep we like to gamble.

If you do stay at Venetian make sure you get a meal booked for your special day at Valentinos, it is fantastic and my dh and I rarely agree that the same place has good food.

If you have anymore questions let me know I go alot, also PS we REALLY like Wynn, but not encore. My DH is going on the 24th of this month and then we go back in oct. I can have him scout out anything for you.

Anyone know which hotel is best for a single female? I am hoping to go next year for my birthday.

Ok, so the Venetian is good and I am going to check out the Wynn. We are not much into the gambling scene but are interested in the shows, shopping and scenery.

If you are into shopping more than gambling then The Venetian will be a good lcoation for you. The Canal Shoppes are there, and you are closer to Fashion Show Mall and The Forum at Ceasars for shopping than you would be at say MGM or Mandalay.

We saw Phantom of the Opera on our anniversary trip one year. Enjoyed it very much. Also saw O at Belagio and Blue Man Group that trip.

DH and I fell in love with Caesar's Palace, but were staying at Bally's. We got up, wandered around the strip, and then went to Caesars for the day.

We love the hotel/casino, but don't love the price.

We will take our son there for his 21st birthday - it would be a good special occasion hotel.

I also vote for the Venetian (or its sister property, the Palazzo). I actually have a surprise anniversary trip booked at the Venetian for my DH & I in November. He thinks we are going to spend the weekend in downtown Chicago (we live in the suburbs), but I was able to use miles for the airline tickets and booked a long weekend at the Venetian. I can't wait to surprise him! I have stayed at Bellagio, Paris, Planet Hollywood and Venetian. The rooms at the Venetian are huge and I just love the property, so I vote there.

We have a dinner booked at Cut at the Palazzo. DH is a steak lover and I've heard it is great. No shows booked just yet. Have you gone to any Vegas shows? I've heard Terry Fator is performing at the Mirage and his show is fantastic. I am considering getting tickets to that. DH is not a big Cirque du Soleil fan, though I'd like to see Beatles LOVE.

Good luck!

For rmance I think the Venetian and Palazzo are awesome. Take a romantic gondola ride. Paris is a great romantic resort as well. Have dinner at the top of the eiffel tower

We stay at MGM for the low floor rooms (DH very claustrophobic) and MGM guarantees these rooms for us. But we always eat at New York New York. We just love the many choices there and we always do o.k. with the penny slots there. Yes, some of the others are located in the middle of the strip that's true. The pool at MGM can't be beat except maybe Mandalay? Others who have been often will know this. But agree that Mandalay tends to be a younger crowd. No matter where you stay, use the people movers and you will see what each hotel has to offer for shopping, entertainment. If you like the Beatles, The Cirque show, Love, is a must.

Is there a website that lists all the different shows in Vegas so we can scan thru and decide the one or two we want to see?

I have stayed at almost every hotel in the Las Vegas strip area and I love the Venetian. It's my favorite hotel by quite a bit. I prefer to stay in the Venezia tower because it's so quiet. And my favorite routine thing I do while there is have breakfast at Bouchon. They make the most incredible beignets on the spot and serve them with homemade warm chocolate sauce and a delicious fruit preserve. That and a breakfast bellini is yummy. I have stayed in the Venezia tower on 4 Las Vegas trips now and it's always very quiet.

Runners up would be the Wynn and Bellagio. Mandalay has a great pool, the best, but if you are going in January that will not be a concern and I'm not impressed with the rooms here at all. "The hotel" at Mandalay is much better than Mandalay Bay but I still don't like the location and being so far down the strip on the opposite end from the nicer resorts of Venetian, Bellagio, Wynn. I like Caesars Augustus Tower but I wouldn't pick it for a romantic trip and it's not quite as nice. The other hotels I've tried (MGM, NY NY, Monte Carlo, Paris, Mirage, TI, etc) are not in the same league.

The most romantic dinner spot, IMO, is Picasso at the Bellagio. It's a 5 star restaurant, one of the top 50 in the US (there are several in Las Vegas) but this one has windows that overlook the Bellagio fountains (in addition to the original Picassos hanging inside). I love eating here. The restaurant is very intimate with subdued lighting and the chairs are big and comfortable so you really can enjoy some outstanding food and service.

For a more casual dinner with excellent food, I'd recommend B&B Ristorante at Venetian. It's owned by Mario Batalli, one of the Iron Chefs. It's a place where you order small plates and share. The food is very adventurous and the wine selection is outstanding.

There are some fantastic shows, Love being the best, but for romance, I truly enjoyed the Champagne Circle seating at Le Reve at the Wynn. Le Reve is a cirque type of show and they have a circle of big comfy seats where each pair of seats share a TV where you can watch all of the underwater actions of the show. There is a server who brings champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to a table that sits between the two chairs.

For us, we only do one Cirque show per trip (I've seen them all since I've been so many times) but many of the variety shows are good. I have no idea who is playing while you are there but you can google it online.

I'd also recommend a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon. It takes about a half day and we did the one where you actually stop and have lunch on the rim of the Canyon. The tour took us over the Hoover Dam (we've done entire days there before but it was nice seeing it from the air). We were picked up and returned to the Venetian as part of the tour so it was very convenient.

We did the Pink Jepp Tours last week in Vegas. They picked us up at our hotel, they drove us to the Grand Canyon and then we helicoptered down into the canyon and then did a pontoon boat ride on the Colorado. We then could do the Skywalk, we did, then lunch and more viewing of the Canyon.

OMG, you are going to LOVE Cut. My DH and I went there this past April for our 10 year anniversary. The service was impeccable and the food was the best we had ever had.

DH had the bone marrow and I tried some. First time for me and I wished I had gotten it. Very rich, but the mushroom medley that it is served with cuts through the richness very nicely. I had the crab cocktail thingy and it was so good.

Anyone know anything about Paris hotel? We were thinking of staying there the next time we go. It seems like it would be a good romantic place, is it?

Paris has probably been my least favorite hotel to stay at. The location is great but I hated those rooms. The rooms were noisy, we could hear the people walking in the halls, we could hear our neighbors. The front desk people were friendly; the concierge less so. I enjoy the Mon Ami Gabi bistro, especially if you can sit outside and people watch. I think the Eiffel Tower Restaurant is at a nice location but there's much better food for that price in many other restaurants on the strip.

And it has the worst pool in Las Vegas. I still can't believe they couldn't do a better job than what they did with theirs.

I would recommend Bally's. I've stayed there, the Excalibur and the Bellagio. Bally's is good price wise and also is right in the middle of the strip. Very convenient as you will be doing a lot of walking!

DH and I went for a romantic get-away and totally loved the Mandalay Bay. All the others hotels mentioned were just as nice but it seemed as though the Mandalay Bay had much better room discounts. I totally loved the "Legends in Concert" show, didn't love the Cirque shows so much.

The best part about the strip was that parking was free in the top resorts so all we had to do was tip the valet guys a few bucks and we avoided the sweltering heat. The cheaper casinos we visited to see shows charged for everything.
