I've been to DW millions of times but this is my first time being vegan. I have been reading blogs and reviews threads and I have a few questions...

1) When ordering at counter service places, how do you know if the breads, rolls, pitas, etc are vegan? I've read the ingredients of so many bread products lately and so many seem to have dairy or honey. Do the employees know or do I need to cry allergies and consult an ingredient list at each place?

2) Where do I find these divvies everyone raves about? Hotel gift shops?

3) I see that gardenburgers and fries is a common default option. Is the bun it comes with vegan and what about the fries? I adore french fries but are they typically used in the same fry machine as the meats?

Thanks! All these review threads are helping me out tremendously! I want to go as prepared as possible!

I can't remember if the buns have dairy or not. They do have Ener-G gluten free rolls that I think are egg and dairy free. The veggie gardenburger is vegan for sure. I have a dairy issue and ate the fries no problem. The popcorn was safe too if I recall. You can email the special diets from the Disney website and they'll send you a list of foods that are safe to eat.

There is usually tofutti or rice dream at the ice cream shops. I found divvies at the food court and in the park where candy/baked goods were sold.

Your best bet at a counter service is to ask to speak to the chef. Just be prepared to wait a very long time as your meal will be specially prepared in the different place to avoid cross contamination. It's great things are made safely but it is usually and extra 15 minutes for it to come out.

My only warning is that the counter service at Yak and Yeti was incredibly rude and unaccomodating to my dairy allergy. They basically refused to make me something and then changed their mind at the last minute. I won't eat there again b/c of the huge hassle and the belittling. It was very bizarre.

Oh, also, if you are staying at a resort food court be sure to ask to speak with the chef in the mornings. I had special pancakes made for me that were so good (but took forever!)

All of the buns do have dairy in them so you have to ask for gluten-free buns (these are actually dairy free). As with the other breads... you'll just have to ask to speak to a chef. I found that most chefs are very helpful and will substitute food items for you.

My boyfriend and I got divvies in the Port Orleans French Quarter food court. We accidently ran into them there! Also, I know that Tusker House and 'Ohana sometimes gives them out as a dairy-free dessert.
