I also posted this under disabilties as someone suggested but they suggested posting it here so now its in both lol
from my research being vegan at disney seems super easy but i still have a few questions, if anyone knows the answers or where to find them
-who&when do i notify that im vegan so i get the most out of dinning?
-Is the grey stuff vegan or will the veganize if pre requested?
-Some locations have vegan cheese, is it possible to get that on the pizza at all star sports?
-This ones just opinion but what are people's favourite restuarants for vegans?

The gray stuff is not vegan. It has a generic cool whip and generic sandwich cookies neither of which are vegan. If you are only going to a place for vegan cheese call ahead or stop by in advance because the items they carry for allergies are sometimes out of stick. Sunshine Seasons at Epcot carries vegan products regularly so it's a great option. The QS place in Morocco was easy to work with what is on the regular menu too. We travel frequently with vegan friends and they do bring some sources of protein because except for tofu at TS places it was hard to find vegan protein. I think there were a few things at Columbia Harbor House in MK, maybe the chili, hummus sandwich with no slaw, broccoli. Cous Cous had chicken broth and it's a premade type product so couldn't be altered. In Hollywood studios we went to backlot express and they had the roasted veggie sandwich with no cheese (they were out of vegan cheese). The Dole Whip was almost vegan--traces of dairy listed in terms of allergies but they were OK with it. There are frozen strawberry bars, pineapple bars, and frozen lemonade at most of the ice cream carts. The popcorn was vegan too. Not many desserts other than those. They brought along some dark chocolate they like though. The resort quick service places had lots of options...... They ended up doing lots more veggie burgers and stripped down salads than they wanted to though.

the grey stuff is a heart breaker, but i guess i could make it veganized at home easy enough(oreos are vegan) and maybe use vanilla icing i guess? cross contamination (which is why dolewhip has a warning) doesnt bother me its pretty hard to avoid unless, its like a food being cooked in bacon grease then i wouldnt obv

If it helps, we tried the grey stuff cupcake and didn't like it. It tasted artificial to me....

The pineapple is vegan. If you get a swirl of pineapple and vanilla then you'll get caseinate, but just the pineapple nozzle should be OK. (assuming the machine has separate nozzles for pineapple, vanilla, and swirl)

"Sugar, Dextrose, Stabilizers (Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Coconut Oil, Contains 2% Or Less Of Each Of The Following: Maltodextrin, Citric Acid, Natural & Artificial Flavor (contains Pineapple Juice Powder), Modified Food Starch, Malic Acid, Beta Carotene (Color), Mono & Diglycerides, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking)."

Not exactly health food LOL.

If you're getting a cupcake, get the ingredients first. In the past I've found gelatin in the oddest places.

You can mark 'Allergy' when making a dining reservation and just alert the host when you check in, they will often have the server bring out the chef. If you are at a quick service just alert the CM when you are placing your order.
The only locations we have found vegan cheese is Pizzafari in AK and Pizza Planet in HWS.
Hope this helps!

PS Thanks for the shoutout superchime!

It's NOT an allergy! Do not mark it AS an allergy! Simply ask your server for vegan suggestions and if they can't help then they can get a manager or the chef to suggest something for you.

I agree I am also vegan and have never had the need to mark it as an allergy or notify anyone ahead of time. I just ask the server for vegan options and they are usually very helpful. Disney is a very good place to be a vegan diner, you won't go hungry.

We just always mark it get to the host aware, I only select milk and eggs when I book because we don't eat those. We don't select it for all restaurants just the ones we know the conversation needs to be started before we are seated. Many restaurants now are pretty good with vegan diets and don't need it, but it is helpful to let them know before because we have encountered many CM's who don't know what vegan actually means. Not saying you have to mark it as an allergy but it has been helpful to us in the past.

Notify the hostess when you check in. I highly recommend buffets and the food court in the land. I wasn't able to get vegan cheese at the all stars almost 3 years ago but that may have changed. (I did get vegan pizza at pizza planet and have heard others get it at mama melrose).

Under no circumstances should anybody be claiming a lifestyle choice such as veganism or vegetarianism as an allergy. The restaurants will still work with you.

Favorite restaurants for Vegans - BOMA and Sanaa. Try them you won't regret it.

I just saw Chef TJ at Trails End last week! He's great but if you miss him the other Chef I have had there multiple times is not the most accomodating unless you ask for something specific which I know to do with him now ;) Trails End is our family's favorite buffet and actually the only buffet we ever go to anywhere.....
