Rick's best man is a vegan. Were looking for menu ideas for a lunch-time meal. All of the other food we will be serving is cold so his food does not need to be hot.

Does Disney make vegan cakes?

Thanks for any ideas! :thumbsup2

Disney seems to be very accommodating when it comes to dietary restrictions. They told me that if I knew ahead of time of any allergies/vegetarians/vegans, etc. to let them know and they would prepare them something. I have two guests with food allergies that I casually mentioned at my tasting, and it ended up noted on my BEO and they are still asking me about it! I would just ask your planner about it and I'm sure they will help you out!

when you get your planning stuff or if you have gotten it, you will find that they will ask you about dietary stuff like that. and yes, disney is very accomodating - i'm sure they can do it - plus babycakes NY is now at downtown disney - all their baked goods are vegetarian and i *think* vegan as well - so there is a close option just in case! ha!

one note though, i think disney is SO careful that they can go a wee bit overboard - depending on what type of meal you have (buffett v. sit down), it seems to me that if one person has an allergy say, they won't serve ANYONE the offending item! like i can't eat chrimp or lobster, but i can eat other shell fish - so i just ask about stuff and know what to avoid, versus having noone be able to have seafood at all. so when you do your tasting, i'm sure they can really guide you well!

you won't be dissapointed i am sure!:thumbsup2

I've already had my PS and am making my final payment this week. I was just looking for specific food items to consider.

We saw that bakery in DTD and they do have vegan options!

Thanks!

sooooooooooo didn't you choose a menu after the PS? since vegan is (obviously) more considered than "just" vegetarian, i would talk with a chef. what are you having as of now? because you certainly could have just a plate for the one guy, but other dishes - i'm sure the chef could recommend or tweak what you are already having to add some vegan options. like we had our brunch, omelettes to order, mickey waffles, etcc and a pasta dish (vegetarian) and some side veggies, fruit. i felt like that was enough to cover the couple of vegetarians we had. so your planner could recommend adjustments or get you in tough with the chef! desserts are always a bit more tricky - you are quite a fabulous couple to consider a vegan cake (unless you guys are vegan too!!) - caue i'm not sure i could give up my cake and buttercream frosting!!!! but even if you don't do the whole cake, i'm sure you can get something or cupcakes from babycakes as an extra!

i need cake right now come to think of it!

My sister is a Vegan and our planner told us that because all of the ingrediants used are fresh, we had to wait until 2 weeks before the wedding for the options. That being said, we were not offered options, just a menu of what would be served. We didn't ask to change it because, as luck would have it, she LOVED the meal.
