Any vegans out there who have been or are going to WDW?

This is our first time going to WDW and my husband and I are vegans. (nothing that comes from an animal)

I have read some of the vegetarian reviews but was wondering if anyone knows of other places to go.

We will pack our own food and leave some in the car so that we can zip back out if need be but it would be nice to have a few places to go when we are at the parks.

Thanks for the help!

I'm really not certain about the parks. Most restaurants, both cs and ts, do have a veg meal. However it would depend on how strict you are if this works, considering most food is still cooked with non vegan choices in the CS restaurants. I do give a BIG thumbs up:thumbsup2 to BOMA at the Animal Kingdom Lodge! They have LOADS of vegan choices. This is a buffet meal. I was especially wowed by the many choices of hummus, I love hummus! As well as the fresh fruits and nuts! They had whole fresh strawberries, my favorite!:cloud9: They also had many hot choices as well, soups and veggie dishes. Keep in mind that Disney will work with you too. In a TS restaurant you can ask for specifics. Usually the chef will come out and talk with you and then make your special dish on a seperate grill as well! :cheer2:

Good luck! Hope you get to enjoy some yummy Disney foods!:)

I am not a vegan but my best friend is. We all went to WDW in Dec 2007. She loved it. First thing we did is make a note on every reservation that there were two vegans. Then she completed a food allergy form on line and gave very specific instructions, what she likes and doesn't like. Some of the best restuarants were: Coral Reef=they had rissoto, salad, rice dream = she loved everything. LeCellier= they made her feel so special, she had her own special menu, spring rolls for app, some kind of FANCY veggie stacked thing that she LOVED and home made sorbet. Boma=the chef walked her through the buffet and let her know what she could have which was a ton of thing, all very yummy. And if that wasn't enough the chef made her this very FANCY tofu dish, for dessert he came out with a very FANCY fried banana, toffuti, choc. sauce thing. Again she loved it and felt so special. They really went out of their way to make them happy. These 3 restaurants were her favs. We also ate at Mama Rosas=pasta, nothing special. Chrystal Palace, the chef walked her through the buffet and brought out a huge tofu dish which she did not like, it was soft tofu not firm. She doesn't like soft tofu. As for counter services, some were great and some not so great. ABC Comm. in the Studios was horrible. They had nothing but french fries. Keep in mind that all the french fries are vegan except for the McDonalds carts. She was very happy about this. The Harbor House was very good vegan chili and some sort of sandwhich (hummus, veggies, whole grain bread). Starlight Cafe (Cosmic Rays) not sure of the name boca burgers and french fries. Tangerene Cafe (Epcot) vegan plate (hummus, bread, olive salad, cous cous, tabuli). She loved the food at WDW. I've never seen her eat as much as she did. I think with some planning, you will have no problem finding great food.

The new Tusker House buffet in the Animal Kingdom has many vegertarian options. I'd say it has more vegetarian dishes than Boma. I'll be dining at both on my next WDW trip. You should spend time checking menus at allearsnet.com.
