I know the thread title doesn't even sound right. :rotfl:

We are trying to plan some dining reservations for our trip to the World in the spring and one person in our party is vegan. Has anybody had any experiences with vegan entrees at Le Cellier or should us non-vegans give up the dream and find another restaurant?

TIA!

On the current lunch menu, there is one entree that ought to be vegan, the Porcini Mushroom Ravioli. You would have to find out if they put any meat-based stock into it though. There is also a pasta dish on the dinner menu--the same thing would apply. Other than those two items, the pickings look slim to me--perhaps you friend could have a green salad and some side dishes?

Thanks for that info. One of my other friends was going to look at the menu to see if there were any options. My vegan friend is pretty good at putting together her own custom meals when she is in a tight spot with food options. Plus, Disney is so good at accomondating dietary restrictions.

Don't cancel! I'm sure your vegan friend will deal for one meal if she has to. I'm not a big believer in changing ones plans to accomodate the minority. Don't get me wrong, I'd try and keep in in mind throughout the trip, but not every single meal.

LC is a great dining experience - but seems like a wasted experince for a vegan. If I were the vegan in the party, I'd volunteer to just eat elsewhere that day rather than make the group change for me.

Make note of it on your dining reservation, and I am sure they can come up with something. Although it's not an allergy, the chef at Le Cellier was one of the most accomodating and doting that we met when we were there in May. (My mom has many allergies)... if not borrowing an item from the lunch menu, they may be able to "create" something for the vegan in your party that suits her requirements!

I second that. But, I'm sure the chef could come up with something, if notified in advance. Soup and salad would work too.

They will most likely be stuck with a salad, just so they are aware.... If you get better then you had a very good day at Le Cellier!

This site has lots of good info for vegan/ vegetarian dining at Disney.

Keep in mind that any pasta made with eggs would not be considered vegan. Mushroom risotto may be made with butter or cream, again not vegan. French fries - as long as they are fried in vegetable based oil, WOULD be considered vegan! :goodvibes So your friend is certainly not doomed to eating salad all week. Besides, many salad dressings contain dairy or gelatin so you're not guaranteed your salad would pass either. (Mickey rice krispie treats contain marshmallows, which contain gelatin, so they are off the list too.)

The ravioli likely has eggs and probably dairy too. Risotto usually has lots of dairy in it and might also have an animal stock.

With the exception of DH who loves LeCellier, our family is vegetarian. Our kids are also both allergic to eggs. We usually eat at LeCellier because it is DH's favorite. I know the breadsticks aren't vegan because they always bring DD a tapioca roll. On our last trip in January 2010, DD had the kids pasta, so at that time, the regular kids pasta was egg free. Maybe the vegan in your group could have pasta with marinara. Not terribly exciting, but better than a side salad. They also should have tofutti for desert if they don't have a sorbet on the regular dessert menu.

Thanks for that info. I think we are going to still do it and since we are not on the dining plan, its not like we are wasting a table credit. She can always get a snack in morocco... but we won't be able to duplicate Le Cellier any where else.

email is best (though mark it high priority) as she's a busy lady! At the very least she should be able to put you in touch with the caterers at Le Cellier (she's in charge of food and bev at Epcot). I've always found her very helpful!

Thank you for that website!

My sister is a vegan and was made a separate entree (not on the menu) at Le Cellier. She called them a week ahead, spoke with a chef and had it noted on our reservation. I don't remember what they made but she enjoyed it there very much.

If you have other adrs I would suggest doing the same thing. Several restaurants have agreed to have tofu on hand for the day of our adr (even if not used there regularly) and made her a tofu dish.

At the buffets the chef will come out and take her around and tell her which items are vegan (some may appear vegan but have butter or chicken stock used).
