VDH Questions for Purchasing

Booking a duo studio for d23 would only be 68 points but im afraid we wont be comfortable in that bed im scared.

We're barely going to be in the room and just need somewhere close to sleep, but that expo is exhausting and we need to sleep good. What do yall think? Do two adults really sleep comfortable in the murphy bed? I do love the jungle theme
This bed is OK. GCV this is not. But still better than most hotels by a lot. HOWEVER....

(1) Disneyland Hotel is nowhere near the convention center. It's a little under 1.5 miles. There have been planned shuttles in the past, but at least for a couple of years, it was a mess.

(2) Most people are at the convention center and the Honda Center from morning until night. You'll hardly see your room at VDH.

I'd just get a hotel room near the convention center and save your points for when you can enjoy the full experience of being there. Unless you have points to burn.

We have a car we dont use the shuttles. Weve been to D23 4 times, I know the exact entrances and parking situation. I would be so nervous to rely on that shuttle for the Honda center. In the past, ive just driven from home every day before and that is not ideal and for what we're gunna have points!

The hotel rooms near the convention are insanely expensive for something I would find acceptable lol we're talking 1k or more a night for a hotel thats usually 250-300. We have stayed a little further at Embassy suites last time because it was under $400 and it was terrible, never again, id rather pay tot.

It is true we wont be in the room hardly at all but we will for D23 day the first day. Being immersed in the whole Disney bubble for d23 must be quite the experience. D23 day is in the park so Disneyland hotel is an ideal location for that and im not moving hotels.

I worked in Fantasyland and Toontown. Have you stayed at vdh before? I always recommend staying. I toured it and although I loved what I saw, you dont really FEEL how much youre going to like it until you stay.

Like all the extra touches they did for us had me loving it. We wouldnt be having this conversation if I never stayed there I def would have went with poly and not even thought about it. Ive never switch a reservation at 7 Months yet so I feel someone else could better answer that.

I haven't stayed at VDH. Or even at the Disneyland hotel at all. I did like the room and resort a lot, just from walking around though.

I stayed on Harbor last time, maybe a five minute walk. I booked REALLY early. It was $335 total for two nights (Fri, Sat)--so $162 per night. Then I drove home on Sunday after it was over.

Where did you stay?
Signature Maingate. Honestly, not a great hotel. Somewhere around the level of a Holiday Inn. But all I did was get up at 7am, walk down to the convention center. It's less than a mile and on the same street. Maybe it was more than five minutes, not more than ten, walking. I do have a fast walking pace. I was at d23 until it closed, got dinner there with friends, and then shuttled over to Honda and Fri and Sat and then made my way back to the hotel at 10pm or 11pm. As just a place to sleep, it was fine.

In terms of Uber, probably $5 each way--useful if it's super hot. I took an uber one morning in for the 2024 D23.

About half of the hotel was d23 people that weekend.

Between responding to your post earlier and now, I've rebooked. (Thanks, your post reminded me that I needed to do that.). I'm staying there again. And the price is about the same. On some hotel sites, as a very regular traveler for work, I sometimes have member discounts. But it was $298 for both nights combined ($150 / night) for a king bed. About $20 per night more for two double beds. And there's a free (again, not so great) breakfast. I have no problem spending money on a resort experience (and a resort experience this is not), but I don't want to spend resort rates when I'm not using the resort. I just need a place to park, sleep, and shower. And parking is included. There was someone in the main office all night, and I felt safe parking my car near the office.

Again, I'd NEVER recommend this hotel for Disneyland vacation. For florida peeps, it feels a little like everything on Highway 192 on the west side of the I-4. But for a place to sleep and shower, it's all good.

If I hated embassy suites im sure id hate this one even more 🤣🤣 If they cant book me a welcome home stay, I dont know what im going to do, I need 4 star or above 🤣🤣

The comfort of the bed is so important to me especially since last time they made us wake up at like 4 am iirc to try to get into the virtual queue for shopping at the popular stores or lining up for Lorcana. I really hope they dont do that mess again. My wife said no to the duo studio for this one so deluxe studio it is.

I finally got a reservation for my signing day!! But its at Cali adventure and we want to go to the star lounge if possible. Does anyone know if you can just go into the other park without having to go into the first park after 11 or do I have to get in cali adventure first and then turn around and go to DL? The reservations are ao annoying. We usually dont get there till after 11 anyways

Probably for the best. My favorite DVCs are Grand Californian and Poly. But when necessary I can still embrace my inner grad student from years ago to save $500 or $600. Plus, I'd probably get irritated with myself if I was spending $600 or $700 or so a night and didn't do anything at the resort.

I totally understand. Im not even going to do the calculations because id probably be irritated too 🤣🤣 but I dont think as irritated as staying at Embassy again 🤣

I believe the magic keys don’t have to go into the starting park like a regular ticket if it’s after 11am. Bit of a waste to do that in/out uturn.

With 200 points i can stay for a week in a one bedroom for my birthday. That would come out to 224 points and then I can otup 24 of them. I dont want to stay a whole week at once but the fact that one week fit perfectly with my birthday I feel is a sign of what I need to do here
I love OTUP, but I'd hate to gamble on an annual trip with that premise... sounds to me like you need to buy 225...

I'd be surprised at this point if they'd have. WH stay for D23 weekend, but maybe they would? Would be a pretty smart way to sell contracts TBH...

They'll just take the WH out of the developer's points (cash rooms). You should be fine.
