Yes you get the full allotment to use for alternate dates other than the fixed week. We have one at RIV and when they changed the point chart the 10% point penalty is still less than booking it on my own (week 52). I feel like a fixed week is a good buy because if you never use it you aren’t losing any points. However if you have to sell it and now those points can only be used at VDH having an automatic booking guarantee every year in a cheaper category like standard view is very valuable. For favorite weeks we get the premium points back if we choose to use it for other times?
That's what I was thinking for resale down the road! I'm glad I ran into you who has a real life example. Is there a cutoff when I need to tell DVD\V that I want to reallocate my points? Or so I have in theory up the day before my reservation to cancel and rebook at a different time/resort? Also can I still pick my use year or is that set?Yes you get the full allotment to use for alternate dates other than the fixed week. The fixed week is book at 12 months out instead of 11. You can book something else with those points sooner or if you borrow the fixed week would not be booked. It requires the full allocation of points available for the UY for it to be booked automatically. If you have points leftover one year from not taking the fixed week and you bank them, they will not be used 1st for the fixed week booking. They would need to be used separately before the end of the UY they were banked into and can be combined with other DVC contracts to make a larger booking at 7 months if you own other resorts as long you are the direct owner. That's what I was thinking for resale down the road! I think that if you cancel within 30 days, the points go into holding, just like if you cancel any other reservation within 30 days. You have to call or chat with DVC member services to have them cancel a favorite week reservation. I guess it takes a little manual intervention to make sure you get all your points back. I did that via chat one time; it was easy, and I had all my points available within a couple of minutes.
I don’t own one but based on what has happened with others, you call them before the 12 month mark to tell them not to book it for you, Then the points can be used as all other points.
If it gets booked and you decide you want to try something else, you have to call and have them cancel it.
Once you make the decision, you can’t go back and change your mind for that year. In terms of UY, they do push a certain one for certain times, but I have read that if you really want a specific one for a specific reason, they will give it to you, especially if you are already an owner.
Correct
I believe it is all or nothing.Thank you! One other question; can I cancel part of my fixed week or is it all or nothing?

You must cancel the full week and you cannot extend the full week. For example, any extra nights I add to my FW at Riviera must be booked as a separate reservation.Thank you! One other question; can I cancel part of my fixed week or is it all or nothing?
It’s all or nothing and it’s a Sunday check in and check out, you can’t change the day.Thank you! One other question; can I cancel part of my fixed week or is it all or nothing?
Maybe because there are so few of them. I think they’re allowed to sell up to a certain percentage of a given villa size for each week. Maybe even taking one garden room out of general inventory exceeded that percentage.Very interesting (& probably quite disappointing) that they aren’t offering any garden rooms with fixed weeks.
Yes but you will need to contact member services to cancel the fixed week first.Say your FW week is booked at 12 months using the 10% premium, and at 11 months that week is available, can you switch and scoop up the remaining points?
