Curious to see how many existing DVC members are adding on VDH to take advantage of the current incentives while having the rescission period - just in case the incentives are better after May 29th. And I doubt they are but just in case ......
If you’re buying now, I don’t see any downside to doing this. Your approach wouldn’t have worked for those who were looking on 5/16 to book high-in-demand times/rooms (e.g., opening day and the January race weekend).
Seven days is the minimum per California law. It appears that DVD is allowing 10 - possibly to avoid confusion with the rescission period of the majority of its resorts. BTW the rescission period for Hawaii (Aulani) is also 7 days and for South Carolina (Hilton Head) it’s 5 days.
I delayed my purchase so the rescission period overlapped with the initial booking window, in case I couldn't get what I wanted or they gave me a hard time about unborrowing VGC points I had for a VGC stay I replaced.
But not so much for the incentives. Lower-than-pre-sales incentives would be fairly unprecedented.
