VBR--Last minute in October?

How difficult has anyone found it to get into Vero at the last minute in October? We wouldn't care if it was a studio, 1BR or Inn room and can be somewhat flexible on the days.

DH is on a project at work and probably won't know until about a week to ten days in advance if he'll be able to get away...
