VB Waitlist & Options

DH and I are planning to take DS and DD to VB this summer. I have July 25, 26 and 27 reserved, but we are waitlisted for a few other nights before and after that weekend.

Much to my dismay, DH does not want to do a WDW/VB combo, because we will be at WDW for spring break this year. Is there a such thing as too much Dis? I guess so for him!!! Anyway...I'll still keep him around!

Here are my questions...
* I waitlisted day by day a 1-BR at the 5 month mark for 10 nights. I have 3 nights secured. What's the likelihood that any or all of the other nights will come through? We have an Aug UY, and I have to make a decision on whether to bank by the end of March, so I'm not quite sure what to do if nothing's come through at that point. I'd be willing to take a chance if I thought we could get most nights and then maybe tack on a couple of days at WDW even if hubby isn't thrilled.
* If we go ahead and keep the 3 days and nothing else comes through, any suggestions on other places to stay (non-DVC) around the area? We've only been to Daytona Beach, so I'm not sure what's close or around Vero. I'm assuming Vero is about an 1 1/2 or 2 hrs from Daytona straight down 95?

Thanks for your thoughts or any suggestions you may have. Also, thanks for anything you may know about the waitlist.

I'd think it's unlikely all seven nights will come through before the end of March. VB in the summer is popular. You have to book right at 7 months to get in if you don't own. Good luck, but I'd start seriously planning for your alternative.
