We just came back from trip to VB over Memorial day weekend. It was wonderful. Weather was fantastic. Really great surf to play in at the beach. We stayed in a 1BR on the ground floor in Building 14 facing the ocean (and a cottage). Because we were on the ground floor, we had a much bigger "patio" and a "backyard" with lots of nice landscaping to boot. The resort looks great. Last time we were going to come to VB our ressie was canceled by DVC due to Hurricane Frances, which closed the resort for a couple of months. But it looks great now! The rebuilt beach boardwalk is far nicer than the old one.
The restaurant food was pretty good, but not great. One morning breakfast service was slow, so they bought us our lunch, and we didn't even complain!
The pool slide needs a new paint job, at least on the guard rails. The tiger Lily slide needs work too. I heard the pool area will come under renovation soon.
The interior of our unit was in fine shape. However, VB needs to install DVD players in the units. They still have VCRs, which are rapidly becoming obsolete.
Overall, a great time. As far as stand alone resorts go, you can't do much better than VB. We did not leave the resort the whole time we were there.
